More Nirvana songs.

The fifth one is a song called "Dumb", I like this one a lot as well.

The sixth one is called "Aneurysm", this is one that is really growing on me, I find myself playing this one more and more.

The seventh one is "Come as you Are" again, although this one is live at their "MTV Unplugged" performance.

The eighth one is a song called "Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sumbeam", it is a cover version of a song written by the scottish band (I hear Ross applauding) The Vaselines.
This is another one that has grown on me.

The ninth one is the "Unplugged" version of a song called "Polly", I have an acoustic studio version and a grunge studio version (known as "New Wave Polly"). I'll try to dig them versions out.

Thought it could be done.

You might want to consider renaming them to something more meaningful before uploading them.

It's not that Nirvana is that bad, it's the Nirvana fans that get on my nerves...

You're not the worst I've seen, Ben. Conspiracy theories ahoy...

Danny Stewart September 26, 2006 11:07 PM

(He's the worst I've seen.) :P

Nirvana are brilliant, it was sad Kurt Cobain died, who knows how much more they could have achieved. These songs on here are going straight on my iPod :P They are one of the best bands to have existed.

Ben Dawson September 27, 2006 3:32 AM

I'm glad you liked them Chris, I'll put more on tonight.

Ben Dawson September 27, 2006 3:33 AM

So.........What do you think?

Danny Stewart September 27, 2006 5:19 AM

Very good. :D

Ben Dawson October 1, 2006 1:44 PM

I can't upload anymore as there isn't any more memory to upload them. I'll keep these ones uploaded but for anyone who wants a song file, just PM me and I'll send them over.

Something in the Way

Has anyone here heard of the song "Something in the Way" by (you've guessed it) Nirvana? I feel that this is a song that I must make acknowledged as it is one of Nirvana's best songs.
It is known widely for the acoustic styled version from "Nevermind", it is known as being Nirvana's saddest song with rumors coming from Kurt Cobain himself that the song was written about his time living under the whishkah bridge (these have been considered untrue as it would have been impossible to sleep there as anyone who would attempt it would get swept away by the tide).
Although it is typically known as being soft, sad and acoustic song, live versions were just about always played in Nirvana's grungey style, with the guitar being played clean in the verse and then kicking into overdrive in the chorus. One notable exception of this is Nirvana's "MTV Unplugged" performance of it where the song reverted back into it's original style.

I am uploading different versions of the song by Nirvana.

1. The original version as heard in the album "Nevermind" (in later pressings of the album, the track continued for about 10 minutes to eventually go on to play "Endless, Namless).

2. This is an example of the heavy live versions I referred to.

3. This is the live version that was Nirvana performed on "MTV Unplugged", (note, the last two are cut down down a little bit. I don't know why they did it but Nirvana shortened the song in all other known recordings of the song after the one that appeared on "Nevermind").
You can here Kurt Cobain talking a bit after this version of the song finishes.

I am interested in other peoples views on this song, anyone with views please post them as would love to see peoples reactions from listening to the song.

I've combined all your Nirvana posts into one thread, Ben. Please keep them like this.

Ben Dawson November 3, 2006 4:49 PM

here's a bit of useful (not really) trivia, did you know that Smells Like Teen Spirit wasn't written solely by Kurt Cobain? The entire band (Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl) contributed writing it.

Ben Dawson December 13, 2006 5:23 AM

this 1000th post, so I wanted it to be in the Nirvana thread, written while listening to "Something In The Way", the studio version that is on "Nevermind".

Ronnie Rowlands December 13, 2006 5:27 AM

Hmm, interesting. I wonder which thread I should make my 1000th post in? Maybe I will make a new thread. That is if I last that long...

Ben Dawson December 13, 2006 5:28 AM

ah, you know you will, make a Roy Chubby Brown or Frost thread and put you 1000th post to that, you know, something special to you.

Recurring Villain December 13, 2006 5:31 AM

Whatever happened to quality being greater than quantity?

Ronnie, no doubt you'll get to 1000 posts, eventually. Unless Danny becomes emo and shuts the site down or the internet implodes. Time is the only factor :P

Ronnie Rowlands December 13, 2006 5:34 AM

Yes, I have been here a year and 694 quality posts, whereas Ben has been here 4 months and has made 1000,ahem, posts :P

Recurring Villain December 13, 2006 5:39 AM

Don't trash him yet over the lack of quality posts... He's probably made at least 2.

At least he's not a Sony fanboy. Ugh.

Ben Dawson December 13, 2006 5:44 AM

Did you know that both Nirvana and their original 60's namesake have done versions of Lithium, the 60's Nirvana's version is the cover though...I may like to point that the original Nirvana was English...but it was just coincidence that they are/were both called that......another display of my superior Nirvana knowledge

EDIT: Damn, others before me.
