Recurring Villain October 6, 2006 1:05 AM

I have Reason, just I can't use it because I aquired it through "alternate methods" (as I do pretty much all software I "own") and can't find a way of activating it.

I'm still on FL 5 for the same reason :(

I used Photoshop CS 2 and Flash 8 though :D

I think I will actually get an X-Box 360. Get into some online gaming with my friends at school.

Ben Dawson October 6, 2006 1:02 PM

it's good, I only have a silver membership so I can't play online but I can still download stuff. I'm looking forward to Superman Returns coming out on Xbox 360, it looks like the most interactive game ever. That's the thing, with the Xbox 360, every game is REALLY well detailed and very interactive, I mean, take Dead Rising for example. Excellent

It does require a lot of time/work to become comfortable with using it, but I think it's got a good rep. That said, FLStudio has a good rep for being very simple to use, yet, being possible to make entire albums that actually sound decent on it.

(Magix Music Maker 2 ftw!) ;)

Do a torrent search. It's the best way to find useable software. What? Huh? I don't know who you are. No, I never said that, me? Never! My Wavelab was a "tnerrot". If your lucky, it'll be an activated version that the owner kindly uploaded. Prank Caller! Prank Caller! FLStudio was sent to me by a musical friend from Aussiestralia over IRC.

I still use PS 6.0. The differences between the versions are tiny given that anything is possible with suitable skill. :)

Lol, OT.

Metal Gear Solid > Halo. 'Nuff said in the console matter in that case. ;)

Recurring Villain October 6, 2006 8:26 PM

Torrents are the most pointless waste of time on the intire internet. They never work.

And according to the internet, Halo is better than MGS. MGS isn't on the top 10 list :D.

EDIT: Danny, you need to make links a different colour, they're invisible.

I got FL Studio 6 as soon as it came out and have had only one minor problem with activation, which came up months after I've been using it, and was easily fixed.

Yeah, I'm very comfortable with FL. All my stuff so far is done on that because it's so simple to put together!

Not true! I get all my stuff via torrents, and find it nearly impossible to get things any other way.

You mean indistinguishable? If so, I noticed that. What color would be good?

Recurring Villain October 8, 2006 12:07 AM

A shade of blue, on the cyan/light side.

Danny Stewart October 8, 2006 9:11 AM

Something that goes with the color scheme. I don't think that does terribly well.

An update on Reason, Jez -- I just got it, and I must say I absolutely love the interface. The way they've laid it out is very clever -- just like a hardware setup, with mixers and things being plugged into each other and the sounds laid out very logically. Well done to the people at Propellerhead!

However, that said, I'm afraid I cannot give up FL for Reason, as much as I would be interested in pursuing it, for one fundamental reason. Reason does not support VST synths, and VST synths are essential for the work I do. For example, Peter Howell made his Doctor Who theme bassline on the Yamaha CS-80. To recreate it, I use Arturia's CS-80V VST soft synth, which is based on the CS-80. That synth is essential to getting the sound so close, and denying myself the use of VST synths takes away too much control from me and therefore I can't use it. :(

Hopefully Reason 4 will support VSTs...

Jez October 8, 2006 3:00 PM

The interface is pretty awesome, although I prefer FLStudio's. I could cope with a RL version of Reason's interface but on screen, there's too much scrolling to be done. ;)

Danny Stewart October 8, 2006 4:13 PM

We'll see where they both go with FL 7 and Reason 4. I know FL 7 is due out relatively soon.

Recurring Villain October 9, 2006 4:08 AM

I am never going to be able to crack that.

Jez October 9, 2006 2:18 PM

What, Reason? Give it some time....like three months....I think you'll manage it. ;)

I'm waiting until I'm taught by someone who uses it on a daily basis, lol. (Quite rare for me to do that actually, everything I know about and on computers, I taught myself - as I expect everybody did here.....apart from the old Acorn computers. But then, they were so ****ty I wasn't interested in teaching myself that ;))

Chris Britton October 9, 2006 4:13 PM

This is all too much to read, whats reason?

Danny Stewart October 9, 2006 6:52 PM

Reason is music-making software, Chris.

Anyway, I just went out in search of Reason for the first time and had it downloaded and cracked in under an hour. Surely you can manage something similar, RV.

Recurring Villain October 13, 2006 4:46 AM

I'm not a Pirate, I'm an evil genius.

Distinct difference.

Ben Dawson October 13, 2006 6:40 AM

but do you resort to piracy sometimes for your evil deeds.
I figure, evil is not bad, it's just a different view of life.

Sad_Indy_Gal October 13, 2006 10:24 AM

i seriously want a Wii, it's like ultra cool! Fingers crossed, among the doctor who merchandise on christmas day i shall find a bright, shiny Wii!

Recurring Villain October 13, 2006 9:06 PM

The Wii is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.

Ben Dawson October 14, 2006 3:19 AM

plus it's the cheapest Next-Gen console, but the question is, will game play be any good?
It does look good, I can say that.
