Sadly, that seemed the most 'real' part to me.. with all the people I know that spend all day and night, texting and talking away on the damn things. I could picture them snapping pictures and being all like.. 'OMG SO CUTE!'.

Yeh, I mean when the spaceship came, if I were there I'd definitely ring my family in case there were Daleks or the sort on board.

Then if the worlds taken over I'll just say Doctor all day and see if I can make the Time Lord fly :D

Chris Britton April 10, 2008 5:55 PM

What was irritating for me was that my Mum and Sister thought they were the cutest things they have ever seen. My Mum cares little for Doctor Who but my Sister watches it all the time, yet she does not really care what happens.

I quite liked the Adipose, in that they were cute and had some character in them (all that waving, curiousity of the world around them). They'd be awesome in their own, DW un-related production.

Story was shite, but I think the focus was put more on Doctor + Donna than threat.

Chris Britton April 14, 2008 4:38 AM

Wonder if they may come back, yet bigger and much more evil, they had quite prominant fangs for little aliens, so perhaps they may yet be some sort fo evil scary monster.

Ben Dawson April 14, 2008 6:04 AM

Would be better than what we got with PiC.

Danny Stewart April 14, 2008 6:38 AM

They showed some of the early sketches of the Adipose on the Confidential episode, and they looked excellent. Naturally, Russell couldn't have any of that. Who would want truly frightening villains on Doctor Who?

Ronnie Rowlands April 14, 2008 7:26 AM

The Adipose were not villains though, Danny. They were doing no such plotting against Earth, it was all Foster's doing, the Adipose were just a normal species and were doing no deliberate harm, so I don't think it would have made much sense for them to be frightening.

The thing is, we only saw them in baby form. We don't exactly know what their purpose is, they could become an army and become something scary, so the breeders intentions are still open to speculation.

You guys make me both depressed and sick.

What? I'm merely responding to Ronnie's point. Does not mean I liked those things.

Jez April 14, 2008 2:05 PM

As The Doctor said:
They're just children, they can't help where they were born. (or something like that) ;)

Josef Kenny April 14, 2008 2:07 PM

Yeah but that doesn't excuse them from being in such a shit episode :P

What about them being excused from being too young to understand the RTD shittness factor?

that's my point. The episode was not too great but not because of the adipose. Because of the plot.

Well, I don't like the adipose either. They're annoying and plus they make me think about Partners in Crime.

+1 for my dear friend Rat Soufflé. Hell, +2. That remark was beautiful.

I'm sorry, but it was because of the Adipose just as much as the plot. Those things have no place in Doctor Who.

Jez April 15, 2008 1:24 PM

Read some public feedback on the episode today.

General thoughts: Adipose were great (lot of people want one), episode was a good "romp".

This is why my 0/10 poll option reflects that I have lost faith in the human race.

Ben Dawson April 15, 2008 1:49 PM

And that's why the 9th Doctor called us "Stupid Apes", Ironic that this line was written by RTD though :P.
