Star Trek Movie feed: Brought to you by Chris Britton

Given the amount of news about Star Trek XI which has been coming out from the website lately, I have felt instead of bombarding the forum with topics, a dedicated topic should be set up to contain the Movie news. this has the benefit of cronicling the news as well as keeping an organised forum. Consider im the caretaker of the Star trek forum, I should be doing this. Therefore, all existing movie topics shall be moved into this one, so you can all keep track of this attempt to revive a classic franchise.

Just announced today with ST.com. It has been conformed British actor Simon Pegg will be playing Montgomery Scott in the upcmoming Star Trek film. The full article can be found here:

Menawhile. it has also been conformed Austrailian actor Eric Bana will be playing a Villian known only as Nero in ST XI. Article to be found here

So yes. The cast seems to be filling up. The movie is now conformed to be released for Christmas 2008.

Sounds good! I'm still interested to see what exactly they're doing with all of it.

Chris Britton October 13, 2007 9:08 AM

I will keep the forums up to date with star trek news. =) there seems to be plenty about at the moment.

I am sort of suprised about Pegg's casting. Not in a bad way. But I would not have associated Pegg with Scotty :) It will be interesting how he plays him.

JUST IN: It has now been conformed that Japanese actor John Cho has ben cast as Hikaru Sulu for the upcoming film.

http://www.startrek.com/startrek/vie...e/2310093.html

Cho had been rumored to be cast for the role for several months now and had even recieved George Takei's blessing for the role. Cho is a conformed fan of the Original Series.

Just in today! There are rumors going around that the prodcuers of Star Trek have lined up Chris Pine to play the famed Starfleet Captain.

http://www.startrek.com/startrek/vie...e/2309773.html

So far, there have been several rumors about who may play Kirk, including Matt Damon, and there is still no conformation about with Bill Shatner will have a role in the new film. If Pine is cast as Kirk, it would only leave the Role of Doctor McCoy unfilled, with Gary Sinse still rumored to play the Doctor.

Simon Pegg is a good actor... but it's just wrong, they chose him over Greg Hemphill. You'd think they'd have chosen the Scotsman to play Scotty...

They better get the accent right, none of this pathetic attempt at an Aberdeen accent which the rest of the world always tries.

Danny Stewart October 14, 2007 5:27 PM

I heard Paul McGillion (Carson Beckett from Stargate Atlantis) auditioned for the role. I think he would have been great -- he was even the preferred choice of James Doohan's son Chris. It's a shame he didn't get it.

Chris Britton October 14, 2007 7:36 PM

Yes. i read that too, Paul McGillion even looked a bit like Scotty back from TOS. It is sad he did not get it.lets just hope Pegg can pull this off.

Pegg's a hot name in cinema right now, he's obviously going to be chosen for the role over others, just to have his name attached to the project.

I hate when things happen for reasons like that.

Yeah, I agree. But it could be worse, this is Hollywood we're talking about. And it's not like he's a bad actor.

Both fair points.

Chris Britton October 15, 2007 2:58 AM

Not saying he is a bad actor. It just seems a bit hard to picture him as Scotty at the moment. Then again, we have been apprehensive about things before and they turned out fine.

He's also an actor ive never seen pull off a decent Sottish accent... or even attempt one, which is concerning.

Star Trek.

This may make me become a fan, if I watch it. There have been numerous times when I have nearly became a Trekkie, but I am still not one.

Good luck with this. :P

:P This will be interesting if you do convert.

Recurring Villain October 17, 2007 4:38 AM

The only Star Trek I've ever watched was that movie with the Borg in it when I was like 7.

Danny Stewart October 17, 2007 10:09 AM

That would be First Contact.

Chris Britton October 17, 2007 12:55 PM

And along with Star Trek II. First contact is the best Trek film to ever hit our screens. I always watch those two and they never get dull. Mind you guys. Star Trek IV was also a nicely done film.

Danny Stewart October 17, 2007 11:15 PM

My favorites are II, III, IV, VI, and VIII. Although I thought VII, IX, and X all had their moments too. Never was a big fan of I or V though.
