Ah, thanks mate.

JJ Abrams has started post production on the movie and says it's true to Roddenberrys vision and he's made sure that he is honouring the franchise for all it's fans. he also mentioned it's a new kind of action which has not been seen in a trek film before.

NB: I',m going to make sure i keep this topic update as much as i can now, seeing as now i've got better access to info, also because I'm want to keep Star trek going on this place, even if it's in a little way and regardless of who sees it :)

One thing that I noted along the way was that theres not going to be any Treknobabble in this film, apparently because Abrams is trying to make the film appeal to people who have seen Trek and ones who have not. While I don't really know if thats a good idea or not, since I always enjoyed Treknobabble and I do remember that Cloverfield was a decent film, but not a revolution. Which seems to be what Abrams is trying to do with Star Trek

Not much to report on the film as of late, although there was an interview with Nichelle Nichols and Zoe Saldana, which might hint at spoilers too.

Some new trailers. If I do say so myself, this film is set to be extremely cool.

Oh and also, does everyone know it has been put back to spring 2009?

Danny Stewart November 17, 2008 2:22 PM

Yes, yes, and yes. :D

Ross Hendrie November 17, 2008 5:29 PM

lol Im glad to see you optomistic about Star Trek once again.

Danny Stewart November 17, 2008 10:20 PM

To be fair, I've always been optimistic about Star Trek -- Star Trek once Berman and Braga were out of the picture. Just like I've always been optimistic about Doctor Who, once RTD was out of the picture. :P

Huzzah! Simon Pegg as Scotty!

"I like this ship! It's exciting!"

Ross Hendrie November 18, 2008 4:39 PM

Dont start me on Pegg, it's a travesty that they've cast an Englishman as Scotty. He better get the accent right.

You're an odd one, sir. James Doohan wasn't Scottish either, you know.

Ross Hendrie November 20, 2008 6:12 PM

Yeah but he wasn't English, that's the travesty.

Having an Englishman play a Scotsman, it's... wrong!

I find it amusing how you can keep stating this claim without ever once justifying it. :P

Simon Pegg actually looks like a great Scotty, plus I find he has a great sense of humor around him due to his comic roots. I felt that Scotty had a nice sense of humor around him too.

All I can say is that next summer will be busy for me :P I have this, Dragonball and Wolverine to go see.

Reminds me of now with Video games, currently trying to balance Call of Duty, Left 4 Dead, Fallout 3 andRred Alert 3.

I don't really count MASSIVE LINK PASTING as justification. How about you explain it yourself, using, you know, like, words?

They couldn't have a real Scotsman gaying up the screen, now could they? Seriously, in no other country is it socially acceptable for men to wear dresses.

Also, Kirk looks like a douche in this movie. Picard ftw.

Ross Hendrie November 23, 2008 2:20 PM

You clearly have no idea what a kilt actually is then. If you're going to call it some sort of gay name, at least say skirt, as it's at least a comparable item of clothing.
