Torchwood 1x07 - "Greeks Bearing Gifts"

Plot Summary

Toshiko is given an alien pendant which enables her to hear other peoples' thoughts. As the rest of the Torchwood team puzzle over a centuries-old skeleton, the pendant forces Toshiko to question her commitment to Torchwood - is her new-found ability a blessing or a curse?

Sam Davies November 27, 2006 9:09 AM

Blessing, I would love that power you could be like a superhero it would be amazing.

Ben Dawson November 27, 2006 9:19 AM

it was a wonderful Stroy line, VERY well written...I gave it a brilliant vote because I thought the ending was incredibly moving.

Ross Hendrie November 27, 2006 1:11 PM

I thought it was a good episode. Nothing more however cause there wasn't much drama.

Sam Davies November 28, 2006 10:52 AM

It seems that week after week I am amazed by the originality of Torchwood and this episode didn't dissapoint. I especially enjoyed the effects of when she pulls out that soldiers heart.

Danny Stewart November 28, 2006 11:20 AM

After finally watching it last night, I can say that I very much enjoyed this one. I thought the writing was very well done for all the characters, especially Tosh. Interesting to note it was done by the author of "School Reunion" from Doctor Who series two. Anyway, I gave this one a 9/10 because I think it deserved it.

Oh, and did anyone notice that Jack was just full of awesomeness for the entire episode? :P

Sam Davies November 28, 2006 11:26 AM

I noticed I do think he is the best actor for the job and I also just found out he was gay did anyone else know??

Danny Stewart November 28, 2006 11:33 AM

Yes, we all knew that. It's been public knowledge for ages now. :P

MI7 November 28, 2006 11:42 AM

I gave this a 9, much better episode than last week, I think the cast gave their best performances of the lot, especially John Barrowman. Though he is one of my favourite actors so I could be slightly biased :P.

Danny Stewart November 28, 2006 11:44 AM

I agree, MI7, the cast was on top form this time.

MI7 November 28, 2006 11:50 AM

To be honest I'm not surprised that this episode was so good - I just discovered that it is the first (and unfortunately, only) episode this season written by Toby Whithouse, who also wrote the brilliant Doctor Who episode School Reunion.

Which is exactly why I said that above, MI7. :P

"Greeks Bearing Gifts"

Nice pun :P

Sorry, I just had to say this before he edits it... (hah, as if he would have :P)

I'd have done the poll myself but I'm a bit ill at the moment. :( As always, I'll watch the Ep tomorrow on BBC 2 and let you know. I'm really missing out on my weekly Spooks dosage so Torchwood will have to be even better to make up for it. :P

Have some Tic Tacs!

Sam Davies November 29, 2006 5:11 AM

I like the fact that each cast ember has a pretty much even part.

Ben Dawson November 29, 2006 6:48 AM

except Captain Jack, there isn't enough of him

Danny Stewart November 29, 2006 9:21 PM

That keeps him mysterious, which I imagine is what the writers want.

Oh, also, did anyone feel incredibly painfully sorry for Ianto in this one? I felt awful about how he felt so much pain all the time. :(

Ronnie Rowlands November 30, 2006 4:05 AM

I feel incredibly sorry for the whole series.

Well that wasn't really what I meant... why is that?

Ronnie Rowlands November 30, 2006 2:07 PM

Because I don't like it. And anything I don't like is a sorry sight to behold :P
