Moderator nomination
 

It's time to nominate the users you think would be best suited to start moderating the forums. Moderation is not extraordinarily complicated, but it's essential to the smooth operation of the forums. A moderator would have to be someone (preferably with 200 posts or more) who was very active on the forums (preferably visits no fewer than once every three days) and dedicated to stopping inappropriate behavior and making sure things around here stay pleasant and friendly.

A moderator on these forums would have to close threads that had gotten way off track or provoked an argument, split off threads that have branched into a different area of discussion, approve posts from troublesome users (if this need arises), stick and unstick threads, merge similar threads into one, move threads that are inappropriately placed to the correct forum, etc. Occasionally there may be a need to delete or modify offensive or extremely inappropriate posts, but this will be rarely, if ever, required.

If anyone has any questions, please ask. Otherwise, please start nominating the users you feel would be well suited to the task. Already in consideration is Chris Britton, however he may be seconded if users agree that he would be a good choice. Marinedalek, when here, is already a moderator, and so is my brother, Ian Stewart. Other than that, the field is open. Thank you for your participation!

I would vote for Chris, I've already said that I think he's make a great moderator.

After scrolling through the member list, some additional users I think may be suited to moderation duties are Bajoran Rogue, JTMoore, Dalek104, and Recurring Villain, depending on how many of those users may be interested in approaching the job.

My pleasure, Rogue. I think you would do the position proud. You have been granted Super Moderator status on the forums and also access to the newly created Moderator Discussion forum located under Administrative Forums. Use your new powers wisely and I know you'll make me proud. :)

As honoured as I am to be on that list, I don't think I've been a member here for long enough, nor been active enough to really be the best choice. If a position comes up later on (weeks/months, not days ;)), I'd be happy to fill it. Thanks for your confidence in me though, Danny. It means a lot to know that I'm liked here. :D

Congrats to Rogue on his new status. Also, in response to Danny's first post, Chris would be an excellent choice too. :)

Since Danny is already the admin, lets vote to keep him :P even though he technically can't leave.

I tihnk Rogue and Doctor 5 would also make great mods, Rogues skills i recommend highly

How many mods are there in comparison to the active members?

If the mod offer's still there, Danny, I'll accept for sure. But don't make me a mod for the sake of making me a mod if there isn't that many active people who actually need moderating!

If anything, just change my title from "New Member" to "Pretty Picture Factory" or something along those lines :D

I would be very honoured to become a moderator here. I haven't been very active recently, because I've been busy, but with a responsibility like this I would make sure to come on much more. Thank you for considering me, Danny! And I love the new forum look! It's great!

Our moderating staff currently comprises Bajoran Rogue and Chris Britton. My brother Ian is also a moderator, and he can definitely be trusted to perform that task, but he is very inactive around here so he won't be able to do it regularly. I'm glad to hear you're willing to join our moderating staff, RV! I'm doing it not just for the sake of doing it but because you've earned my trust and I think you know what should and shouldn't be moderated around here. The change has been made to your account. Use your new powers wisely. :)

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind all the newly-appointed moderators that they should not go crazy with their new powers, just use them to keep order on the forums. I'd also like to thank them for their valuable contributions to the site.

Members, if you ever have a complaint against any of the moderators (which should not and hopefully will not be the case), please simply send me a private message and I'll look into the matter further.
