Doctor Who quiz

Seeing as Chriss's "Pub Quiz" is almost finished, I decided to carry on the tradition and start a Doctor Who quiz in the same style. Some questions will be easier than others but remember, it's only easy if you know the answer:P?

Right now, question on.

Which episode of the story "The Tenth Planet" did William Hartnell not appear in?

Chris Britton September 30, 2006 10:14 AM

( Just to point out i will start a second quiz off once the first one is done :P )

the answer to the 1st question is: He did not appear in the 3rd episode of the serial.

Ben Dawson September 30, 2006 10:18 AM

correct...I will add a rep point to everybody with a correct answer (just like Chris's quizes)

Ben Dawson September 30, 2006 10:31 AM

Sorry Chris, it would appear that I given you too much rep lately, would you like me to give you something else, perhaps I could send you a song file with a song by Nirvana for each correct answer?

Anyway, I've studied a bit for this question.

Which story featured neither the Doctor or his Companions?

Chris Britton September 30, 2006 10:51 AM

Ben, i have nto had much rep gven of late, how about you give me a Nirvana Song, then a rep point, then a Nirvana song, so you swtich between the two for each right answer :)

Ben Dawson September 30, 2006 10:55 AM

I'll give that a try, which Nirvana song do you want?

Chris Britton September 30, 2006 10:56 AM

I can;t remember any off the top of my head, send me some of their best. :)

Ben Dawson September 30, 2006 12:56 PM

Ok, I'm a little busy at the minute but I'll get on it later. Do you know the answer?

Danny Stewart September 30, 2006 9:41 PM

Reputation should not be given for answering quizzes! This is a bad use of the rep system -- it should be used for members being nice, not because someone knows something. An ass could know all the answers but he doesn't deserve the rep for it. Please do not give rep for answering quiz questions correctly.

Ben Dawson October 1, 2006 3:19 AM

ok, I'll stick with song files

Ben Dawson October 2, 2006 3:31 PM

If no one gets it by tomorrow I'll post the next question and give the answer to the current one.

Recurring Villain October 3, 2006 4:19 AM

The Defendant.

Ben Dawson October 3, 2006 6:52 AM

wrong, the answer is Mission to the Unknown, and was followed by the serial The Chase, from this you've probably guessed that it was in the first Doctor's era.

Ben Dawson October 3, 2006 6:59 AM

Douglas Adams was famous for his work in sci-fi, he served as a sript editor on Doctor Who and wrote a few story's for it too, but the Tenth Doctor referenced another franchise that he worked on in "The Christmas Invasion", what was that franchise?

Danny Stewart October 3, 2006 10:23 PM

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Wasn't it followed by The Daleks' Master Plan?

Chris Britton October 4, 2006 3:33 AM

Damm, I was going to say that. :p

For extra credit? he was on about how wearing PJ's reminded him of Arthur Dent, and said he was a nice man :)

Danny Stewart October 4, 2006 5:04 AM

Yup, you got the line, Chris.

Ben Dawson October 4, 2006 8:30 AM

correct, which Nirvana song would you like Danny?

Yes, it was followed by "Masterplan", my mistake. But "The Myth Makers" came first before "Masterplan".

Danny Stewart October 4, 2006 12:08 PM

Offer up some choices. :P

Ben Dawson October 4, 2006 1:56 PM

My newest album is "In Utero", here is the track listing for it.

6. Dumb

7. Very Ape

8. Milk It

9. Pennyroyal Tea

11. Tourette's (the lyrics for this song are all anagrams of swear words)

12. All Appoligies (with a bonus track called "Gallons Of Rubbing Alcohol Flow Through The Strip)

I have also got my hands on the studio version of "Something In The Way" without the bonus track called "Endless, Nameless".
You might be interested in the song "Aneurysm".

With the album "Incesticide", the track listing goes like this.

5. Turnaround

6. Molly's Lips

7. Son Of A Gun

8. Polly (New Wave version)

14. Big Long Now

15. Aneurysm

Just let me know.

Danny Stewart October 4, 2006 5:30 PM

I said some. I didn't mean go quite that nuts. Whatever you recommend is fine.

Ben Dawson October 5, 2006 3:09 AM

yeah, I did kinda go a bit crazy with the list:P. But at least I give you quite a detailed choice.
I'll send over "Serve The Servants", that one's good.

Next question.

Which famous impressionist is well known for his impression of the fourth Doctor?

Recurring Villain October 5, 2006 4:59 AM

You know what's annoying? I know most of the answers but I hate Nirvana :D

Ben Dawson October 5, 2006 5:17 AM

oh well, anything else I can replace it with?

Recurring Villain October 5, 2006 5:24 AM

Other than the complete and utter enslavement of the Universe?

Nope.

Ben Dawson October 5, 2006 5:57 AM

I have a version of Peter Howells Doctor Who theme played in the original semi-tone, if you'd be interested in that (providing that you get a correct answer).

Ben Dawson October 5, 2006 6:11 AM

Oh, Danny, I've also got a version of the song "Blew" that was on Nirvana's first album "Bleach". But this version is very rare in America but is on the british copies of "Bleach". The American copies mostly have a different version that is a lot more New Wave than Grunge.

Danny Stewart October 5, 2006 6:49 AM

Anyone can pitch the Howell theme down two semitones if they have anything other than Sound Recorder. That's really no great feat. :P

Also, might the answer be Jon Culshaw?

Ben Dawson October 5, 2006 6:53 AM

I suppose so...and correct, it is the answer. That's two files for you.

Danny Stewart October 5, 2006 6:54 AM

I'll choose them later. Let's just rack up a score total first, then start distributing files.

Ben Dawson October 5, 2006 7:18 AM

Chris has one point and Danny has two. I have sent Chris a song file, he asked me to suprise him so I have done.
If you want (and have time), you can have a look at Radioblogclub.com to have a look at some other Nirvana songs for reference (you can have a listen to them as well) if that'll help you decide. You can't download them from the site, only listen, thank god, as that would ruin the reward for correct answers.

Danny Stewart October 5, 2006 8:28 AM

I can just record them from the web site. :P

Ben Dawson October 5, 2006 8:43 AM

I suppose, but please don't, as that would ruin the reward for a correct answer, please? But it's a good site to do it with other things, I've done some recording from that site.

Danny Stewart October 5, 2006 9:22 AM

I'm just saying. As a reward, it should be something hard to come by any other way -- something special. Songs are easy to come by these days. :P

Ben Dawson October 5, 2006 9:53 AM

I've thought of the perfect thing. It'll probably take a couple of days to get ready but it is hard to come by.

Danny Stewart October 5, 2006 10:16 AM

Cool! That sounds good. :D

Ben Dawson October 5, 2006 10:30 AM

have you ever seen...........no, I'm not gonna spoil it, you'll have to wait until I get it sorted. In the mean time, if you still want one of the Nirvana files, just ask.

Danny Stewart October 5, 2006 10:35 AM

Will do. :)

Ben Dawson October 5, 2006 10:40 AM

the best way for me to do it is on the computer, I'll get it done tomorrow. I'll give you a clue, it's Doctor Who related.

Oh, and I forgot, the next chapter in my Doctor Who book is on the way, it's taking longer because there's a lot more detail in this one that I want to think about, it's an exciting one for me to do.

Chris Britton October 13, 2006 12:13 PM

Next question. :)
