London Attacked Again

Just saw on the news that there has been some more attacks in London, including more explosions on underground trains and buses. This is terrible, so soon after July 7th, hopefully there arn't any deaths this time.

Chris Britton July 21, 2005 1:16 PM

I just heard, apparently no-one has been killed but phone lines are jammed and the underground has been shut down again.

Danny Stewart July 21, 2005 4:08 PM

That's terrible! Usually they wouldn't pull something like that so soon after the other attacks. I'm glad it sounds like no one was hurt. :(

Chris Britton July 21, 2005 4:44 PM

Well, it just shows how heartless people are these days to kill fellow man. I must confess i am not very secure in this world as i used to be, with all this war, crime, yobs, and terrorism. It is a shame. You would have thought in over thousands of years of history we would have learnt.

I totally agree. I am reminded of Commander Adama's speech in the pilot miniseries of the new Battlestar Galactica, about whether or not we are really worth saving, about how we still commit murders for spite and jealousy and hatred. Moving speech, and very relevant in the current times.

Chris Britton July 21, 2005 5:58 PM

very true. I agree so much on that. I hiope that earth will become like Star trek Earth in the 24th century.

Danny Stewart July 21, 2005 6:09 PM

I'm afraid we have a long way to go before that. :(

Ross Hendrie July 22, 2005 5:50 AM

Anyway back to the subject at hand.

I heard about the attacks on London, but apparently there was only 1 serious injury. The centre of London was locked down once again and the subway was evacuated. These attacks so soon after the 77(that´s what they´re calling them...) attacks will surely cast doubt into the minds of Londoners, because it proves that the Terrorists beat the Security again.

Daniel Gordon July 22, 2005 6:00 AM

MET has shot 1 suspectrd suicide bomber on a train, they knocked him down and shot him 5 times close range.

Chris Britton July 22, 2005 6:39 AM

Well, and countries go about saying that no-one can get in, no-one can beat us and we are secure. then a bomb goes off and they are like "Oh, we are sorry, we did not know." It really annys me that nowhere is safe these days.

Danny Stewart July 22, 2005 2:38 PM

It's true. The safest places are really the least safe.

Ross Hendrie July 22, 2005 6:59 PM

Apparently someone else tried to set off a bomb on board a tube train this morning (this may be what Daniel is talking about). The suspect was shot dead by armed Police while attempting to escape via the tube train station.

Chris Britton July 23, 2005 6:28 AM

Yes, i read about that, and there are other incidents like that around the country.

Danny Stewart July 23, 2005 4:02 PM

Troubled times we live in. :(

Ross Hendrie July 23, 2005 5:14 PM

Indeed. There was an attack in Egypt today by Al Qaeda, the death toll stands at 88 so far.

Chris Britton July 23, 2005 5:18 PM

Christ. These are bad times we live in. it is like the Earth is falling apart.

Danny Stewart July 23, 2005 5:38 PM

It is like the Earth is falling apart, little bits at a time.

David Carter July 23, 2005 11:02 PM

The guy that they shot 5 times was innocent. He was from Brazil and didnt speak english so he didnt understand "stop or be shot".

These are very hard times around the world..

*sigh* No offense, but ST may seem like a Utopia, but it's really not. It's almost like 1984, where everyone has a glued on smile and challenging the status quo makes you dangerous.

Daniel Gordon July 24, 2005 12:58 AM

Well, where I live, no one will bomb, waste of an explosive. :)

Danny Stewart July 24, 2005 1:57 AM

Max, where did you quote that from? No one in this thread said that -- I checked. Even Rogue's deleted post says that nowhere in it. Are you on drugs again? :P

Daniel Gordon July 24, 2005 4:03 AM

As an Ambulance Officer, I advise you that drugs aren't good for the body.

Danny Stewart July 24, 2005 5:00 AM

Thanks Daniel. :P

Chris Britton July 24, 2005 6:30 AM

Lucky you Dan, the rest of us live in fear about another attack, this world is not as safe as it used to be, and i fear something terrible will happen.

Actually the guy's family have said that he "spoke excellent English" though I do not understand how they could think that there was no reason to suspect him, he did jump over a ticket barrier while running from police.

Chris, as long has humans have existed the world has never been safe, it is just the media making things seem worse than they are.

Max Yittreas July 24, 2005 2:38 PM

I quoted it from Chris.

Danny Stewart July 24, 2005 3:41 PM

...but he never said that.

Bajoran Rogue July 24, 2005 3:45 PM

Actually, he did http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/6822/proof1xt.png

Danny Stewart July 24, 2005 3:51 PM

Thanks Rogue. I swear I went through the whole thread though.

You sure do love using ImageShack, don't you? :P

And then there it appears. I must have been tired, staying up late for my Battlestar Galactica marathon. :P

Max Yittreas July 24, 2005 4:18 PM

Ah... then you have a legitimate excuse. :P

Chris Britton July 24, 2005 4:34 PM

Ok, i am amazed Max was able to quote me. But isee his point. But i would have expected that in over 2 million years of Humans walking on this earth, you think we should have learned to stop blowing the guts off each other. Oh well. maybe we should get some followers, all meet up and then find a nice peaceful place on this earth out of the way of everyone else.

Danny Stewart July 24, 2005 4:59 PM

You would think so... but alas, it is not the case.

Chris Britton July 24, 2005 5:00 PM

yes. I am afraid
