Torchwood 1x01 - "Everything Changes"
Plot Summary
When Torchwood arrives on the scene of a brutal murder, WPC Gwen Cooper's burning curiosity is challenged. Their attitude, their approach and their technology is at odds with everything she believes in. But investigating the investigators leads her into a dark, paranoid world she never imagined existed. |
Brilliant episode.
I thought there was perhaps a tad bit much messing about at the start but man was it brilliant! |
Agreed -- came together better than I'd hoped.
|
yeah, I taped it, although I had a lot of trouble with the tape and I missed the first minute or so because of it. I had one set, but as it started I realized that I hadn't put the tape in and it was another tape in the video machine, I quickly took out that tape and put my "soon to be" Torchwood tape in. Then wouldn't record, I took out the tape and found that the recording tab was broken, so that it can't be accidentally taped over, I hastilly got the sello tape out to tape over the tab hole so that it could record again, but I got it done before I missed too much, although I missed the resurection scene at the beginning.

So we have five pages of how you recorded it, and one or two words of what you thought of it. :P

Great ep, much better than the one that followed it. (I'll be a few days late on most of the episode comments simply because I don't bother watching it on BBC 3 - the announcer pisses me off and 60 Seconds ruins anything (especially Muse's Reading 06 footage...the bastard remit :()
I liked the fact that we saw (pretty much) everything from an outsider's perspective. |
Yeah, was definitely done well.
|
I didnt really notice anything like that...
|
me neither

I apologize for the bump, but I didn't download any of Torchwood on Demonoid so I caught it on BBC America.
I must say, it does contrast with Doctor Who quite a bit. Doctor who is really optimistic, but this was pretty dark. Not that I mind. It seems like it's going to be a good series... and oh god the next episode preveiw... XDD There was good humor int he show at least, to balance out the otherwise dismal tone. Like fullmetal alchemist. :P The only real problem I had with this episode is the implication that there's nothing in the afterlife. It doesn't turn me off the series though. :P 7/10. I'll keep watching, but I DOON'T think I'm going to watch the next episode with my mom and dad. |
I feel your pain. I had to show the second episode to both my mom and dad, separately. It was an interesting experience. (Yes, it is as bad as it seems it will be in that regard.) Still, all in all Torchwood is pretty good, so I hope you enjoy it.

When was Torchwood ever described as "a family show"? :P

You guys are treating it like a family show. I don't think anybody in my family wanted to watch TW, let alone watch it with me. :P
BTW, that plot summary is a bit outdated. The term "WPC" was obsolete at the time of press...surpised the BBC let that happen. |

My mom and dad needed something to watch and took interest, as did I. :P
So there we were. ... hmm, are they allowed to say the F word too? |
The "F word" is permitted. Hell, we even have a programme called "The F Word", hosted by good 'ole Gordon Ramsey. :P
WPC (Woman Police Constable) was taken out of use following the whole equal rights charade that occurred during the olden days. It's often frowned upon to use such words nowadays in our increasing PC society. I'm not a PC person myself, I was just suprised that the BBC had a moment of being un-PC. I wish they were more un-PC on stuff that actually mattered. ;) |
Are you a Mac?
|
Not forgetting that one off documentary, "**** off I'm Ginger" and "**** Off I'm A Hairy Woman."
|
I enjoyed Channel 4's "I might be Islamic and part of the Taliban but that don't mean I'm a f*cking terrorist you infidel"
