Hello everyone!

Hello everyone, I'm Katja from Belgium and I'm happy I found this site... Not many people here know Doctor Who, they've only just started showing it here (the Christopher Eccleston series). It would be nice to find some people here who know that there is more than that, and who might even agree that Tom Baker still is the 'real' doctor...

Oh, and nice to meet you all! :D

Jez February 21, 2007 12:06 PM

Welcome friend, stay safe! :)

Ben Dawson February 21, 2007 1:48 PM

welcome to the site, hope you enjoy your stay.

Dalek104 February 21, 2007 2:36 PM

Hi, Katja! Have a wonderful time here! I look forward to chatting with you! :D

robertbeare February 21, 2007 3:28 PM

Hey

Hey ,
Wow the Christopher Ecclestons is only just showing there been a while since that first aired here got to be 2/3years strange i think he was really amazing doctor he had the look to be the doctor looked kinda old and had a good sense of humour ! All in all one great doctor !!!:tardis:!!!

Ross Hendrie February 21, 2007 4:18 PM

Welcome aboard! Glad you found us.

I thought CE could've been a good Doctor, but he sort of ran away too early.

He was, but did.

Welcome, Katja.

Danny Stewart February 22, 2007 12:50 PM

Welcome, Katja! I agree with you about the Fourth Doctor, too! ;)

Ronnie Rowlands February 22, 2007 1:05 PM

How can Tom Baker be the real Doctor. There were 7 others........

Jez February 22, 2007 1:57 PM

How can Fry and Laurie be the best comedy duo; there've been so many others.

Ronnie Rowlands February 22, 2007 2:05 PM

In my opinion. I didn't say they were the only real comedy duo. Because there are other 'real' comedy duos. Just like there are other 'real' Doctors. They weren't fake, were they?

Jez February 22, 2007 2:08 PM

I didn't say "real". :P

Ronnie Rowlands February 22, 2007 5:25 PM

I almost care. :P

Recurring Villain February 22, 2007 6:55 PM

Shut up Ronnie.

Ronnie Rowlands February 22, 2007 6:58 PM

What have I done?

Katja February 24, 2007 10:38 AM

Maybe 'real' isn't the right word... what I meant is that when someone says "The Doctor", Tom Baker's Doctor is still the first one I think of. He was my first Doctor, and a girl never forgets her first love! ;)
But maybe I should have said best... If you catch me saying strange things, feel free to tell me, I only learned English in school so I'm sure I'll make you laugh sometimes.

Anyway, thanks for your welcomes. :)

Oh, and since a lot of newbies seem to dissapear from this site: don't worry if you don't hear from me during the week, I usually only have internet access during the weekends (and sometimes on wednesday afternoon)... :(

Ben Dawson February 24, 2007 11:02 AM

that's understandable, and don't worry, you're not about to be deleted...maybe exterminated :P

Jez February 24, 2007 11:57 AM

Was I the only one who understood Katja's use of the word "real"? :P :D

Danny Stewart February 24, 2007 2:00 PM

I understood it! ;)

Ronnie Rowlands February 24, 2007 2:15 PM

I understand 'Real.' It is the opposide of fake. I don't accept any other meanings of "Real."

Danny Stewart February 24, 2007 2:19 PM

The dictionary would disagree with you, Ronn.

3. being an actual thing; having objective existence; not imaginary: The events you will see in the film are real and not just made up.
4. being actually such; not merely so-called: a real victory.
5. genuine; not counterfeit, artificial, or imitation; authentic: a real antique; a real diamond; real silk.
6. unfeigned or sincere: real sympathy; a real friend.
7. Informal. absolute; complete; utter: She's a real brain.
8. Philosophy.
a. existent or pertaining to the existent as opposed to the nonexistent.
b. actual as opposed to possible or potential.
c. independent of experience as opposed to phenomenal or apparent.
9. (of money, income, or the like) measured in purchasing power rather than in nominal value: Inflation has driven income down in real terms, though nominal income appears to be higher.
10. Optics. (of an image) formed by the actual convergence of rays, as the image produced in a camera (opposed to virtual).
11. Mathematics.
a. of, pertaining to, or having the value of a real number.
b. using real numbers: real analysis; real vector space.
–adverb
12. Informal. very or extremely: You did a real nice job painting the house.
–noun
13. real number.
14. the real,
a. something that actually exists, as a particular quantity.
b. reality in general.
—Idiom
15. for real, Informal.

b. real; actual: The company's plans to relocate are for real.
c. genuine; sincere: I don't believe his friendly attitude is for real.

It doesn't list the way that Jez and Katja were referring to. And anyway, you live in the US, things are different over here:P

robertbeare February 24, 2007 4:35 PM

CE, and REAL

I also thought that it was a shame they got rid of Christopher Eccleston to fast and i understood that katja's real meant she thought that he was better than all doctors (maybe not so true)

I live in Australia and we use words dynamically as well.

Is there a tiny, tiny section of your great country where people only accept 'real' as 'the opposite of fake'?

Because the rest of the world doesn't.

Ronnie Rowlands February 25, 2007 5:48 AM

Nope, just me.:P

Sam Davies February 26, 2007 9:27 AM

Rob I disagree with you. I've said it once and i'll say it again David Tenant is better than Christopher Eccleston.

Danny Stewart February 26, 2007 2:33 PM

David Tennant is a lot better than Christopher Eccleston.

I thought Christopher Eccleston quit?

I agree, David Tennant is much better

Ben Dawson February 26, 2007 4:01 PM

yeah, he did...for undisclosed reasons wink wink ;)

Ronnie Rowlands February 26, 2007 5:38 PM

I'm sure most of the older members know, but I really don't like David Tennant at all. Just looking at him fills me up with anger.

Danny Stewart February 26, 2007 6:31 PM

Ronn is a strange person.

Ronnie Rowlands February 27, 2007 3:05 AM

Well just look at him. All smiley like that grinning dizzy looking Doctor Tom Baker, and having the 'vunerability' of Davison, and the 'wisdom' of Hartnell, that's what the people say, that he's got a bit of all the old Doctors in him. I'm sorry, but I don't want to see all the old Doctors, I want to see a *new* character, not a medley of all the old ones. There are 100 other reasons I could post but I don't want to. I've said them all at one time or another :P

Yeah well. Just looking at your anger fills Doctor Who with David Tennant.

Ronnie Rowlands February 27, 2007 3:26 AM

...Does that make any sense?:P

That's not what Doctor Who, or for that matter, regeneration, is all about. Essentially you're saying you don't like the character of the Doctor, and you'd rather see a different character lead the show.

Ronnie Rowlands February 27, 2007 1:21 PM

Well, it worked with the first few Doctors didn't it? They were all different weren't they?...

Not at all. Regeneration was never ever supposed to give us a different character. That's not the point of it!

Ronnie Rowlands February 27, 2007 5:37 PM

Yes, I know it's the same person, but personality wise, they contrasted. The 1st and 2nd Doctors were completely different in personality weren't they? As were the rest of the early doctors.

The personalities that emerge each time are completely random. It's only logical that after a while they begin to overlap somewhat.
