Notice for New Members

When you sign up, you have to post a certain amount of messages to be able to see certain parts of the message board.

These message should not be spam or meaningless. They should be relevant to the topic they are being posted it.

This means that posts comprising solely of "Sorry, I need to raise my post count to [x] so that I can look at [y]" or any variation of this is not acceptable and will be deleted.

If you're going to post, you post something with relevancy. If you wish to post a message that adds something to the conversation, but mention that it’s one of your initiation posts along the way, that’s fine. Just make it damn well relevant (hint: Make the relevant part of the post long enough for it to add something - "I like [x] too!!!" isn't good enough).

Also, all of the DannyStewart.com staff take a very serious view on "txt" speak, terrible grammar and spellings. We can accept odd errors but posts filled to the rafters with errors or meaningless text drivel will be deleted or edited (depending on the moderator's preference and the size and content of the post). It is quite possible you will be informed on our policy of “txt” speak if you create an introduction thread. Take heed of that information and ignore it at your membership peril.

There should be a link to this thread at the registration page.

Danny Stewart March 15, 2007 11:51 AM

It needs to be included in the forum rules, which I'm working on, and members will have to agree to before registering.

Recurring Villain March 15, 2007 11:55 PM

Can we permaban them if they break rules agreed to at registration?

Danny Stewart March 16, 2007 1:14 AM

Yes we can.

Ross Hendrie March 23, 2007 5:35 PM

What exactly did Sam do to warrant his banning and all these new rules?

Danny Stewart March 26, 2007 12:35 AM

Ask RV. He was the banning Nazi. All the bans have been lifted now, so everyone's welcome to return.

The rules that are in place should have always been here. They're the rules I followed in my mind, and now they're spelled out for everyone.

Ross Hendrie March 26, 2007 6:42 AM

Is RV being punished for these seemingly unwarranted bannings?

Jez March 26, 2007 7:16 AM

They were warranted bannings. Some of them were banned for not attempting to improve the quality of their posts. I have no idea why Sam Davies was banned.

The length of their bans was RV's doing though. And he's not being punished - he still has complete access to the forums.

Ronnie Rowlands March 26, 2007 7:34 AM

I know that Danny is at the end of his tether with him.

Jez March 26, 2007 8:17 AM

In all honesty, he's not the only one. I'm holding back, because like I told you the other day, I'm not gonna add fuel. ;)

Danny Stewart March 26, 2007 8:53 AM

RV acted with my permission, however he did perhaps ban more people than were necessary and without giving a proper reason. I'm attempting to... "retrain" RV, shall we say. His moderator status may be stripped. We'll have to wait and see.

Sam Davies March 26, 2007 9:05 AM

well i'm back now, So don't worry. I would also like to formally apologize to all of you if I have caused any problems. please don't hold this against me i've already apologized tio danny. Thanks for your concern and RV can I ask the reason that banned me you just gave me a smiley face?

RV was perhaps a bit overzealous in his bannings. He banned you because he considered you a part of the group that were making poor posts and not improving them even after they were told. I agree that it was perhaps somewhat unwarranted. As far as I'm concerned, though, all is forgiven and forgotten. (For you, at least, not for RV.)

Sam Davies March 26, 2007 9:17 AM

Thanks a lot. And sorry again.

Danny Stewart March 26, 2007 9:49 AM

No apology necessary. It's good to have you back.

So not only was it unwarranted, but it was intended to infuriate the banned people. This doesn't seem appropriate behaviour at all.

Jez March 26, 2007 11:24 AM

I think RV has issues. Unfortunately for him, I've lost what little respect I had for him. It seems that when he is faced with authority, he attempts to argue. When he realises that he's going to lose the argument, he ignores all future replies. Not the type of personality most employers would look for. I don’t think he acted in the interest of this community, only in the interest of his ego.

In case you're interested, I lost the majority of my respect for him due to the way he treated Voodoo Chile.

Anyway, it's good to see you back Sam. :)

I agree with you about that.

I have to agree completely with you there. :( Also, I haven't seen any sign of RV for a while, at least since the bannings I think.

And it's great to have you back Sam! Have fun! :D

Sam Davies March 28, 2007 4:33 AM

Thanks Guys it's good to be back. I think ,even though I was banned, that RV deserves a second chance. Sometimes people just snap. I know this from experience.

Jammy Jason March 28, 2007 9:36 AM

I was also banned for the reason of a smiley face granted i most likey posted one or two poor psts that could have had more detail but theres no need for me to explain we all know and have heard. Thanks for the lift on the ban and i look forward to writing more intrestign posts :P

Dalek104 March 28, 2007 12:35 PM

One final welcome to all the banned members! Enjoy a fresh new start to DannyStewart.com and don't forget to stick by the rules. ;)

Now let's settle all this banning business, OK? What's done is done. :)
