Visit with Dominic Glynn
1 Attachment(s)
Well, Pete and I visited Dominic Glynn today, and it was awesome. He's such a nice guy, and hanging out with him at his studio was a real pleasure. We chatted and joked and reminisced about the past and had a fantastic time. Here's the picture I promised all of you (from left to right, it's Dom, me, and Pete, in case all you silly people couldn't figure that out on your own). :P
|
Wow! I bet you all had a really great time! :D
Who took the photo? :P |
We had a fantastic time, thanks. :)
My camera's self-timer took the photo, with a little help from Dom's shelf. :P |
Is that one of Dom's synthesisers I see in the corner? :D
|
Nope, that's his gigantic mixing desk. :P
|
Did you get to listen to anything? :)
|
I did indeed. I got to hear some of the film score he's working on and a version of the Doctor Who theme he did back in 1988 that never got used! Not to mention some super secret material that I really shouldn't be telling anyone about but may or may not be Paul Hartnoll related. :P

It truly was. :D
|
How big's his studio? The biggest one I've been in was about the size as the side of a double decker bus (total room space, not including mixing desks or furniture etc.)
|
Where is it he has his studio?
Sorry, I cant keep up with where you are. |

Also, I may try to get him to stop by the forums later. Apparently he does a Q&A thing on Doctor Who Online so maybe I can get him to stop by here occasionally and answer questions from us folk too. Quote:

Thanks for the pictures! :) And it would be really nice for him to stop by!
|
lol Nice, weights randomly sitting on his desk.
Cool equipment, no idea what any of it is but still. :P |

I didn't mean the VCR. I meant the gigantic mixing desk. Silly. :P

Did you ask Dom to join this place? It would be nice to have some fame around here.

Orbital were always pioneers. They were to techno what Kraftwerk were to electronica in the 60s! Oh how I miss Orbital. :(

That means he is? Blown up in your face hasn't it Danny :P
|
You always read way too much into what I say. I haven't even asked him yet. All I mean is that I'm planning a rather major revision to the site in the near future and that is one of the many possibilities I'm thinking about.

Wow, I didn't know he was that local to me. I live near Melton Mowbray - about half an hour from Peterborough! :) Where abouts are you staying Danny? You may have travelled through my village on your way there. |

LOL, way to answer the question for me. :P

People like answers ASAP. :P

Stoooooooookeeee!!!!!

Do you know if there is any plan to release Dominic's music from Dr Who (theme + incidental)...I seem to recall in the late 80's it was release on a tape called Black Light but being in the pre-internet age it was hard to find out anything about it...surely in these days even just an online release is possible at little cost and I would have thought certainly have some takers...
|
Dom told me that moves were afoot to release a bunch of old series music, and it was possible his music might be released as well. This was a while ago, and he hasn't told me anything more about this since, though if you wish, I can ask him about it for you.
|
Dont forget to post pictures, Danny. We're not letting you away this time lol.
Glad you enjoyed the trip. |

I did post pictures of me with Dom, and that's all you'll get in this thread. I think perhaps your request would be best posted in another thread. :P
