Doctor Who 4x00a - "Time Crash" (CIN special)

Plot Summary (Written by Steven Moffat)
A time crash puts a face from the Doctor's past in the TARDIS...

My Comments
It was good, but not great. Definitely Steven Moffat's weakest work for the show so far, but that's not necessarily saying much. It seemed a little fast and hyper for my tastes, and there were too many lines that struck a little too close to sounding like RTD, particularly the "desktop theme" line and the reference to LINDA (kill me now). Other than that, very enjoyable overall, and I loved seeing Peter Davison's name in the opening credits. Peter Davison himself did an excellent job and it was great to see him back. 4/5.

It was good. Yeah, Steven Moffat's weakest work so far for the show, but still good.
The biggest problem for me was that the 5th Doctor seemed a little grumpy and out of character, but apart from that, I liked it.

I thought it was a great mini-episode, the way the two doctors interact is interesting, quite unusual to have The Doctor remember what he will do through the eyes of an earlier Doctor. The jokes that there were weren't that grating, but they did come close, and to be honest I can't see a reason for the inclusion of the LINDA reference. I agree with Danny on the hyperness of the episode, and you could tell quite easily that it is a CiN special by the way that it's edited, such as the cut to the TARDIS in the time tunnel and then a white-out explosion, fading to the interior of the TARDIS again looked quite shoddy, but all in all not a bad job. The only thing that annoyed me slightly about it was the fact that now, we have had 4 "Whaat!? What!!!?" sessions broadcast on Doctor Who since 2005. All in all, a very good mini episode and the star of the show was definitely Peter Davison. I am debating over giving it 3/5 (I think its better than that) or 5/5 (I don't think its as good as that)... Bah. I don't care if its the same as Danny's, I'm giving it 4/5.

Brilliant.

It was not fantastic, but it was such a joy to see Peter Davison again, I don't think he got the appreciation he deserved, especially coming off the back of Tom Baker and with the troubles the series had in the 80's. But he and the 10th Doctor and so alike, and to see them in the same room brings a big smile to your face. It was nice to see a nice link back to classic Doctor Who, it was some nice tension between Tennant and Davison, and for 8 minutes it was very enjoyable, it's just a shame it did not turn out quite like i hoped. part of me wanted to see the 5th doctors TARDIS despite how silly that sounds. But still, i am happy to give this 4/5 :D

While it does sound silly, I must confess to having the same hope.

Celery.

It was a mini-episode with the real purpose to remind everybody that there is a Chrismas special one and a half months away, so it doesn't warrent a footnote, let alone an essay. Fun and fast but nothing to vote about for me.

I didn't even watch it live....

That's why I reduced it from a 10-point scale to a 5-point scale -- not enough to judge it on the normal scale. Please vote anyway. :P

A logical choice. But it was a fun, enjoyable 8 minutes mind. It shows how well you can be when you condense things. As there seemed to be a lot there which could have been expanded into more minutes. I would have loved to see a full episode with Tennant and Davison, despite the unlikelyhood of that I can still picture it =)

Something Peter said to David in "Time Crash" got me thinking about a logo for the show's upcoming fourth season...

Hmm...doesn't quite have the same ring to it, does it. :)

Josef Kenny November 18, 2007 9:59 AM

LOL!

I just remembered, Davisons celery is too big compared to his original celery.

Chris Britton November 18, 2007 10:12 AM

Well the time issues did age the 5th Doctor, perhaps it somehow ages the celery without it going off or dying :P

Ross Hendrie November 18, 2007 6:22 PM

I never seen it, is there anyway to view it without resorting to youtube?

Danny Stewart November 18, 2007 7:27 PM

BitTorrent or YouTube are pretty much your only choices.

Chris Britton November 18, 2007 7:30 PM

It's on Youtube, in fact loads of people uploaded it.
