I agree. I think if you are stupid enough to do that sort of thing to yourself; all drugs make you feel good in the short term but worse in the long term, and when it eventually ****s you up, you've only brought it on yourself.

But... but... I drink. Well... 2 pints of 50/50 shandy isn't exactly 15 pints followed by a bottle of vodka but still... :P

Well I don't do it around the clock you know. In fact it's extremely rare I do get drunk, last night was because it's my birthday in a week and there was a party on last night to celebrate it. As next weekend i'm not about. Mainly because on Friday and Saturday I am up in Manchester with my girlfriend to visit her parents, then mine are coming to to see me at Uni on Sunday. I hate smoking ands drug of any kind.

Yeah, but you do take Alcohol. A panel of experts judged that if Alcohol was introduced today, it would be illegalised and be a Class A drug.

I fail to see how that would be possible. And I have no problem with smoking. I love the smell of second hand smoke.

I like smokers because they give me people to add to my long list of 'people to whom RV is superior'.

It's just a pity they don't tax cigarettes more. The idiots would pay whatever price the cigarettes' cost, so we could effectively lessen things like income taxes and put the burden on people determined to kill themselves through prolonged smoke inhalation.

The same with things like pot, alcohol, cocaine, meth, religion, etc. I call it the 'idiot tax'. These people **** up their bodies and minds and die, and we get huge subsidies on cool things like games consoles or TVs because they're paying such massive taxes on the products they choose to kill themselves with and are so addicted to they can't find any possible way to stop.

This is one reason the world would be a better place with RV in charge.

Second-hand smoking causing diseases is trash. Everyone really knows it.

There are 41 different causes of cancer. One being smoking. Shift-work is another. And stress, diet, alcohol, etc.

P Smoking research only takes 4-5 of these causes into account, so it is junk science. For every one of these studies showing a link, six more do not.

Even though the amount of smokers has halved in the last 30 years, lung cancer rates have gone up 800%? And have asthma, heart disease, etc etc - all diseases blamed on smoking. Smoking is no good for you definitely - but there is NO risk from second-hand smoking and everyone knows it!!!

And Danny, what do you think gives you the right to wish lung cancer on ANYBODY? I just lost a hell of a lot of respect for you.

Oh and RV, Last time I heard, smoking-related diseases cost the NHS £1.7 billon and cigarette tax brought in around £7.5 billion. It's the same people who want smoking banned that are being treated in hospitals FREE OF CHARGE.

It's good enough to say. Who wrote those articles, anti-smokers? There's no real proof that their effects are caused by second hand smoke, is there? Why do you think you have the right to tell someone to get lung cancer?

I disagree with the experts on horizon rating nicotine higher than several other things like ecstacy and cannabis. Smoking is worse than alcohol, that shouldn't be argued with. Smoking doesn't have the capabilities
to make one more violent or louder than normal. It wouldn't give one the urge to get into a fight, get themselves into trouble, and people don't tend to sell their dearest possessions to afford another cigarette.

Smoking is NOT sorted. It was not a big social problem that was causing people to go commit crime. Take cigarettes away from people, and you get a black market, people will just start smuggling them in and the government will get NO tax off them then, will they? They won't be happy then will they?

Same for us, I'm not wishing a very serious disease on you. Although I think Danny was aiming it at me personally, not every smoker in the world. EVERY adult member of my family has smoked at one point. Some have given up, some are still at it. Would you wish this disease on them as well? Supposing they all did. Put yourself in my shoes after that happened, and see if you could say "yeah well, they deserved it."

Ronn, all members of my dads side of the family apart from him smoked, and as a result my Grandad had a heart attack and now has a pacemaker, and is very frail, my Nan had to give up to help fund his treatment, my uncle has smokers breath, my aunt has to make sure she wears make up because of the state of her skin. All because they kept puffing away. Now they are my family as I love them like family, but to see whats happened to them is heartbreaking.

My Grandad had his heart attack two years after my other one died of an Asthma attack even though he did not smoke, i was very distressed, and on a simple conicidence my dad and mum have the ONLY successful marrage in our current family, 23 years this year.

However if they did, you're damn right I would say they deserved it. Because guess what. They did. They chose to pollute their bodies with poison. That's what happens when you make such an idiotic choice. You pay for it. As I've said numerous times in this thread, I have zero sympathy for people like that. They bring it upon themselves 100%.
