What are you listening to?

What are your favorite bands/songs?

Right now, I'm really liking the band Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin. "Konstantine" by Something Corporate has got to be one of the best songs ever made (IMO). For Jack's Mannequin, I'll have to pick "The Mixed Tape" as my favorite song.

Comments, thoughts, favorites of your own....

Listening to Linkin Park at the moment, the album "Meteora" A fantastic album.

David Carter October 12, 2005 10:06 AM

Nice. Yeah, I like Linkin Park. "In The End" will be forever stuck in my head.

Ross Hendrie October 12, 2005 11:37 AM

Hmm, well im particularly fond of Queen, and also some of the Proclaimers' older songs.

Danny Stewart October 12, 2005 12:21 PM

The custom-made version of the Doctor Who theme that I finished last night. Oh, and of course the Delia Derbyshire original Doctor Who theme from 1963. And for good measure, a bit of Peter Howell's 1980 Doctor Who theme mixed in and if I really want to shake things up, then I'll go for Dominic Glynn's "Trial of a Time Lord" theme for Doctor Who's twenty-third season in 1986. Plus the remixes on Whomix -- you never know what you're going to get with those. ;)

David Carter October 12, 2005 5:34 PM

I think I meant bands....or music artists....

Danny Stewart October 13, 2005 9:54 AM

Delia Derbyshire, Peter Howell, Dominic Glynn, Keff McCulloch (barely), David Arnold, Murray Gold -- these are all music artists. They are composers, and they have all composed the Doctor Who theme at different times over the past 42 years. Don't diminish them because it's not the kind of music you listen to. They're still damn talented people.

David Carter October 13, 2005 11:34 AM

By music artists I meant SINGERS!!!!!!!!

Bands, and single singers. There. Is it clear?

I dont care if you want to talk about Mozart, its still not relevent to what I wanted for this specific topic.

Danny Stewart October 13, 2005 11:56 AM

Thread title = "What are you listening to?"

That's the question I answered.

Besides, believe it or not, Peter Howell actually sung part of his rendition of the theme. :D

Ross Hendrie October 13, 2005 12:57 PM

I think we should expand it to artists rather than singers.

David Carter October 13, 2005 4:03 PM

Fine...whatever. Go ahead.

Chris Britton October 14, 2005 2:39 AM

I tend to listen to that as well, I a also listen to Green day. good Charlottle, the Rasmus and a fair bit of Queen as well.

Danny Stewart October 14, 2005 12:10 PM

Thank you, Ross.

Chris Britton October 19, 2005 3:43 AM

Well done Ross. :)

Max Yittreas October 19, 2005 9:12 AM

Ome Henk's "Lekker Lekker," a parody on the infamous "Dragostea Din Tei (Numa Numa)." :P

Danny Stewart October 19, 2005 12:17 PM

Fair enough. :P

Chris Britton October 19, 2005 4:11 PM

nice one. :)

Danny Stewart October 19, 2005 6:34 PM

Indeed. :P

Max Yittreas October 19, 2005 6:45 PM

Now "Moskau" by Dschingis Kahn. (German group) :P

Danny Stewart October 19, 2005 7:07 PM

Max, you must be really heavily into German stuff...

Max Yittreas October 19, 2005 8:36 PM

Not really. Just those two songs because a friend sent them and they're really catchy.

EDIT: Now listening to the "Hymn to Red October" from, obviously, The Hunt for Red October. Good book, too.

Danny Stewart October 20, 2005 5:29 PM

Saw the movie the other day on Spike.

Max Yittreas October 20, 2005 7:04 PM

Now it's "Tubular Bells."

Danny Stewart October 20, 2005 11:02 PM

Are you just going to keep posting here every time you change tracks? :P

I can do that too:
First post: Doctor Who Theme (Derbyshire)
Second post: Doctor Who Theme (Howell)
Third post: Doctor Who Theme (Glynn)
Fourth post: Doctor Who Theme (Derbyshire) again
Fifth post: Doctor Who Theme (Derbyshire) once more

See why I don't?

Max Yittreas October 20, 2005 11:16 PM

Nah... I wouldn't double post. :P

And only when there's a different song... not a repeat of the one playing before.

Chris Britton October 21, 2005 12:20 PM

Currently i have the song 'I want to break free' In my head.

Danny Stewart October 21, 2005 10:31 PM

I've heard it, if it's the one I think it is.

Ross Hendrie October 23, 2005 7:02 AM

The "I Want To Break Free" that Queen made you mean?

Also Max, I love that song you were talking about... Dragostwhateveryacallit. And The Hunt For Red October completely rocks.

David Carter October 23, 2005 1:41 PM

I went to a concert with MxPx (a new punk rock band) and Relient K (a pop/rock band). It was cool. A band called Rufio (sp?) opened the show. They were ok, but MxPx and Relient K were really good. It was so cold though.

Danny Stewart October 24, 2005 9:27 AM

Glad you had a good time.

Chris Britton October 27, 2005 9:02 AM

I did mean the Queen Version, Ross :)

Ross Hendrie October 28, 2005 2:16 PM

What do you mean Queen version? They wrote the song... it's theirs.

Danny Stewart October 28, 2005 4:38 PM

Others could have done cover versions, Ross. He meant the original. I can call the original Doctor Who theme the Derbyshire version, and that doesn't mean it wasn't hers originally.

David Carter October 29, 2005 9:58 AM

I could call it the Adam Gillikin version if I sing it.

Danny Stewart October 29, 2005 2:47 PM

Precisely. My point exactly.

Bajoran Rogue October 29, 2005 3:24 PM

My favourite music right now would be music from the game "Skies of Arcadia", its classical and if you want to hear some then you can find it here, that site is in french, though that shouldn't make it impossible to navigate for people that don't know any french.

Danny Stewart October 29, 2005 3:52 PM

See? I'm not the only person who picks nonstandard music as their favorite music. You can have a TV theme (or video game music) as your favorite music. :P

David Carter October 29, 2005 4:14 PM

I just prefer bands. I find connections with the lyrics, I enjoy the live shows, I like how different bands have different sounds. I like Sandstorm too, so....yeah.....lol

Chris Britton November 17, 2005 12:27 PM

I like both :P

Danny Stewart November 18, 2005 7:11 AM

Chris knows how to placate me. :D :P
