USA invasion of Scotland

:(Please invade us.:( We have oil.:(

Ross Hendrie November 1, 2005 4:30 PM

Well there would be good points and bad point regarding this. Good ones such as we wont be under the oppressive, arrogant English anymore. Bad however... wed be Yank citizens... no NHS... etc etc So im afraid:

*Forms guerilla force to fight the American invaders.*

Max Yittreas November 1, 2005 5:16 PM

That hurts, Rogue. :( Just for that, you guys are staying under UK rule!

Bajoran Rogue November 1, 2005 5:56 PM

Acording to wikipedia there has to be a reason for an invasion, though gaining land in Europe so you could join, and take control of the EU could be a better one.

Danny Stewart November 1, 2005 6:05 PM

Have I missed something? Or perhaps multiple things?

Max Yittreas November 1, 2005 10:22 PM

Meh... I was gonna start my own country and invade the US first. :P

Danny Stewart November 1, 2005 11:56 PM

That doesn't really answer my question.

Chris Britton November 2, 2005 4:53 AM

And i am hurt becuase Ross says the Uk opress the Scots, i hold a lot fo respect for Scotland and i would like to se it one day,

Danny Stewart November 2, 2005 6:53 AM

Ross tends to judge many based on few. Not an admirable trait, but that's what we have to deal with.

Chris Britton November 2, 2005 11:12 AM

Agreed there. It is a shame, because one day i would like to live in the USA, because down in Yate, things are hard here, I do like it, but i would rather get away and make a new start. although i make a note of going to Scotland and seeing Ross before hand. it is a beautful place.

Danny Stewart November 2, 2005 1:03 PM

It is absolutely beautiful. And with a name like Stewart, I'm obviously of some Scottish descent.

Ross Hendrie November 2, 2005 1:09 PM

It is. And Danny? Based on the few... let's go over a few history examples. In the 1700s English removed the king from power simply because he was of Scottish nationality. In 1745, a rebellion led by his son was crushed with completely dis-proportionate force and following the final battle, genocide was carried out by the english troops on the highland nation. In the years following many harmless things such as Tartan and Bagpipes were banned by the English and also our clan system was ruthlessly dissolved by them also.
Let's see... what else, ah yes. During the First World War the English sent the Scottish troops in first against the enemy, basically used as cannon fodder.
If this doesnt convince you...

Danny Stewart November 2, 2005 8:57 PM

Convince me of what?

The fact that you're thinking im going off making half baked assumptions.

Danny Stewart November 3, 2005 1:18 PM

That was not a complete/coherent thought. Please reread your sentence. But if you mean what I think you mean, then you've done it an awful lot, and to be honest I've never seen you not do it when referring to another culture (especially America), so what else am I supposed to think?

Ross Hendrie November 3, 2005 5:55 PM

Outrageous. You're saying im prejudging the English? Does it look as if I am?

Danny Stewart November 3, 2005 9:22 PM

No, quite the opposite. You're prejudging everyone except the English.

Chris Britton November 4, 2005 3:39 AM

But he has mentioned how the English oppressed the Scots, Ross I know back then the British Empire did cover 25% of the world. but it still hurts me that you decided to take a pop at the Country i was born in? Am i opresant? Do i come over and ban everything? because not everyone is like that. i respect you and the Scottish, And not everyone is like how you mention things.

Ross Hendrie November 4, 2005 11:07 AM

Im not emplying your like that Chris, in fact I never said anything of the sort. Danny however, seems to be under the impression that I prejudge everyone. So who have I bashed except from the US and the English then Danny? Who do you mean by 'everyone else.'

Danny Stewart November 4, 2005 1:15 PM

Look, Ross, I don't really care, but the US bashing has to stop, since a good chunk of members on here are from the US. I'm not going to be dealing with this at all, and this is your absolute final warning.

Chris Britton November 4, 2005 1:47 PM

Ross, i know you have your opinions on the US and UK, But it is sad you have to bash them on here, because it is insulting and racist, and while we can;t stop you in real life, it is not good to say it on here, it won;t make you popular and respected, please, as your friend, I am asking ou of the kindess of my heart, please stop insulting our friends on here, as it is not really what they want to hear, they grew up in America and it is thier home, sure the USA has it;s problems, so what, the Uk has problems too, all countires do, but we must recognise the good things. That is the first step to unity. Ross, you must understand that people have feelings for thier country, and when somone comes on and says nasty things out it, they are going to be hurt. it is sad, and low, i am amazed you have to say such things. It really is sad to see. these forums are where we go to escape the pressures of life, and talk to people we respect and understand. We are a tight knit community, and we don't have many people we can chat, joke about, smile and help out like we do on here. And i am sure, if we did not have these forums. the our lives would be much darker. I am grateful for this opportunity to get to know my fellow men form across the atlantic. I Admit i did not tihnk much of the USA before i came on here, But Danny's forums has changed my view on life, seeing people like Danny, Max and David, really has taught and shown me the good qualities in us all, and that the USA is like us, and they have the same interests as us. And if people, who live 100's of miles away, who i not seen, ro spoken to in person, can change my opinion, and brighten up my life. Then there is goodness and hope in us all. Now, i really want to see America, and explore it, and be happy in the knowlege i have been to, and spoken to, one of the best countires in the world. and with some great people in.

Danny Stewart November 4, 2005 9:30 PM

Thank you for that post, Chris. It was obviously really well thought out and it delivered your message beautifully. I hope Ross understands that we are not trying to pick on him or insult him, we are just trying to get him to stop antagonizing our US members. Thanks again, Chris.

Chris Britton November 5, 2005 1:32 AM

No problem Danny, anything to keep things calmer and happy on here. :)

Danny Stewart November 5, 2005 1:33 AM

And the forums will be a better place because of it.

Chris Britton November 5, 2005 1:54 AM

That was quite nicely said, Thanks a lot. :)

Danny Stewart November 5, 2005 1:59 AM

You're very welcome.
