DannyStewart.com gaming

An idea occurred to me as I was playing a game online earlier this evening. I think it would be a really good idea if this site implemented a gaming section. This section would start off without any games, and then people could propose games. Each game that was proposed would have a poll, and if the poll received at least five (or perhaps three?) "Yes" votes, then we'd create a section for that game.

In that section, we could discuss it (strategies, plot points, etc.) and also arrange to have online games together. We'd arrange who would start the server, the IP address, password, etc. and all try to arrange times that the people on the site who had that game could get together to play it.

I think this could be a really good, really fun idea for a site improvement. But of course, that's just me. What does everyone else think about that?

Chris Britton November 7, 2005 3:35 AM

Danny, that is an amazing idea, and one i am definatley voting for. Putting games in would be great. We would have more reasons to go on, we could have more fun, test our gaming skills out against each other. it would be a chance to get to know each other and have more activity. Well done Danny, I am quite happy you came up with this idea. I am for it. 100%

Danny Stewart November 7, 2005 7:00 AM

Thanks for your support, Chris. As soon as we get it up and running, I'm sure it will be tremendous fun. We can choose games to add that we all play all the time, except now we can play them together. I think it would be great fun! :)

Chris Britton November 7, 2005 7:38 AM

Yeah, you have came up with a brilliant, yet simple idea :)

Ross Hendrie November 7, 2005 1:27 PM

Yeah sounds good. Im for it.

Danny Stewart November 7, 2005 3:00 PM

Thanks for your support, Ross. Any more yes votes, or perhaps some naysayers?

Chris Britton November 11, 2005 10:03 AM

No, i am for this :)

Danny Stewart November 11, 2005 1:17 PM

Alright. Then perhaps we should move forward on it. I wonder what Max thinks.

Ross Hendrie November 11, 2005 3:41 PM

lol He'll probably suggest Rogue Squadron or Galactic Battlegrounds or something lol.

EDIT: Edited Danny, im not letting you away with that one :P .

Galactica Battlegrounds? I'm up for that. :P

Ross Hendrie November 12, 2005 7:59 AM

Ive edited it lol. I was meaning Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds.

Danny Stewart November 12, 2005 9:41 AM

Fine, if you're going to be sneaky, I'm going to be double sneaky. See my original post! :P

Danny Stewart September 24, 2006 11:33 AM

Hey, anybody remember this idea? Nothing ever happened with it. You think maybe it would be a good idea (still)? I'm willing to put in a gaming forum in here if people would use it. What kinds of games do you people play?

Ross Hendrie September 24, 2006 12:54 PM

Well everyone should list what games they have that have good online stuff and then we can discuss.

Chris Britton September 24, 2006 12:56 PM

Can't we find an online Version of Bomberman? :)

Danny Stewart September 24, 2006 1:18 PM

Probably, but I'm talking more about first-person shooters and stuff that we can play with multiplayer over the internet.

Chris Britton September 24, 2006 1:21 PM

Lets avoid Counter Strike though :P

Danny Stewart September 24, 2006 1:23 PM

Hey, I like Counter-Strike! :P

Chris Britton September 24, 2006 1:29 PM

i hope you don;t smash up your keyboard when you get 0wn3ed by n00bs :)

Danny Stewart September 24, 2006 1:37 PM

lol. I play mostly against bots -- rarely online. The people who play CS online are usually nuts.

Ross Hendrie September 24, 2006 1:49 PM

What about Battlefield 2? Anyone have that?

Chris Britton September 24, 2006 1:51 PM

yeah, hence why i avoid it.

Danny Stewart September 24, 2006 1:55 PM

I have Battlefield 2 and I'm not bad at it.

Chris Britton September 24, 2006 1:56 PM

Never played Battlefield 2

Ross Hendrie September 24, 2006 2:03 PM

Im not that bad at it but Id doubt im as good as you Danny lol.

Let's start a possibility list for this. Danny should do it lol.

Chris Britton September 24, 2006 2:07 PM

im game and up for it.

Danny Stewart September 24, 2006 2:30 PM

Hehe. See, this is why this section might be fun. :D

Ben Dawson September 24, 2006 4:02 PM

I might be able to direct you to a Site with a Bomerman multiplayer game on there if that helps at all.

Danny Stewart September 24, 2006 5:29 PM

Not really any help for this idea but some members might enjoy it. Post a new thread in the Video Games forum.

Dystopia - One of my favorite online games until nobody played it anymore :(

Danny Stewart September 24, 2006 9:29 PM

I've never played it. What's it like?

Recurring Villain September 24, 2006 11:13 PM

It's a mod for Half Life 2, btw.

AHHH!!! Then I've not only heard of it, I've played it! Although for far too short a time. Good game!

Chris Britton September 25, 2006 2:44 AM

I'd love to try it out.

Danny Stewart September 25, 2006 5:09 AM

Do you have Half-Life 2?

Ross Hendrie September 25, 2006 6:44 AM

Are the Half Life games any good? Are they FPS or what?

Recurring Villain September 25, 2006 6:55 AM

They are not just some of the best FPSes ever made, but some of the best games ever made, full stop (or period for you American types)!

Half Life 2 especially. One of my absolute favorite games.

Chris Britton September 25, 2006 8:05 AM

The Half Life games are some fo the best you can get, i have the first one on the Playstation. However if you get half life 2 for the PC, you need to have a web connection to activate and play it, so i can't buy it untill i get an Xbox or a web connection.

Imagine if we all had World of warcraft. :P

Ross Hendrie September 25, 2006 8:32 AM

Is Half Life 2 an MMORPG then?

Danny Stewart September 25, 2006 12:28 PM

What? No! It's a first-person shooter. Chris is just talking about their proprietary software activation. It's a lot easier if you get it through Steam.
