Doctor Who 2x06 - "The Age of Steel"
 

Plot Summary
The Cybermen take control of London and start converting the populace, in the conclusion of this gripping two-part episode. While Jackie falls under Lumic’s control, the Doctor, Rose and Mickey are reduced to fugitives in a world of terror. A last, desperate attack on the Cyberfactory is their only chance -- but will they all survive?

Danny's Review
This was indeed a gripping episode, and far fuller when it came to action and the use of the Cybermen. I think Tom MacRae did much better at the pacing of this story than he did at last week's episode, and Graeme Harper's direction was again very good. We saw a wide range of performances from all of the cast -- David Tennant expressed tragedy at having to condemn the Cybermen by reactivating their emotions and later enthusiasm at what made humans so great in his stirring speech. We also saw the conclusion to Pete Tyler's return... but he left a bit more suddenly than would have been best for poor Rose. And last of all, poor Mickey departed the TARDIS crew, and it looks like it's for good. I had really grown to respect Mickey recently and it's a great shame that he didn't stay on, especially because Noel Clarke has been so great within the Doctor Who community. He'll be missed.

My Rating: 9/10 - Fantastic

The Doctor and Rose travel back in time to the fabulous fifties, where those funky new "television" things are even more sinister than they appear...

I dont think Mickey will be gone for good. Maybe the Dalek-Cybermen war will be across universes and he'll return.

As for the ep. It was great! Best of the series so far, by far.

Umm... first of all, avoid open posting of potential spoilers. And second of all, that's just rumor and conjecture so please stop treating it as fact.

Im 85 percent sure micky will be coming back in one episode. It was nice to have Graeme Harper as a director, having already directed 2 great stories, Caves Of Androzani and the Revelation of the Daleks. Moving on, it's great to know that one of Britains best loved comedians, Peter Kay, will be starring as a normal guy, Victor Keneddy, who turns into the Abzorbatholon in the episode Love and Monsters, a monster that absorbs humans through its scaly skin.I have seen a picture and it looks great.Apparantly Peter has always been a fan of the show and wrote a letter to RTD, pleading with him to write him a part.

We should be seeing the cyber controller again, as he only appeared in the last 10 minutes or so of age of steel, and i doubt they would build a great costume like that to be used for 10 minutes......

That was a brilliant episode, it was sad in places, witty and clever, it was a shame the Doctor had to reactivate the emotions and condemm the cybermen that way, but i really enjoyed it, and i am looking forward to next saturday.

Ronn, please don't give me the same lecture I've given to Ross about spoilers. Spoilers are not welcome here as I do not want to know.

Peter kay is so not funny... worst comedian ever. Only surpassed in suckiness by Jonny Vegas.

I hate and despise Johnny Vegas with a passion but I'm not familiar enough with Peter Kay to comment. Hopefully he won't suck as much as you think he does when he's on Doctor Who.

He is a very talented comedian. He has created so many popular shows, like "That Peter Kay Thing" "Pheonix Nights" and "Max and Paddys Road to nowhere," his "John Smith" lager adverts and 2 very successful tours. His unique style of situation comedy always has the whole theatre in hysterics. How can you not like this man?

Although I don't hate Peter Kay, I am sometimes sick of him. When I showed my mum his 2003 tour, she adored it. And she then literally watched it up to 4 times a day, and whenever she had visitors. Every time I say something, that is even remotely similar to something peter has said, she will go on to do impressions of that part, and then go into hysterics of laughter. For example, I asked my mum if she had a pen, because I couldnt find one. She went on to say "Oh bloody pens i've had in this house!", (which is something pete said.) Antother time, I asked my mum for garlic bread, she went on to say- "Garlic Bread? Garlic Bread? GARLIC BREAD??!!." Which is another one of his very famous quotes.
Anyone else ever had a conversation like that?

Regularly with Danny when we're talking about Doctor Who. :P Oh and also my my friend Daniel likes to act like the first Doctor hehe.

Damn straight, lol. And there's nothing wrong with acting like the first Doctor. William Hartnell was cool. :P

I've done my share of K9 impersonations as well.

lol Im not saying there is anything wrong with acting like William Hartnell. Oh, and I also like to show off by acting like the Tenth Doctor to some of the girls I know who watch it. Doesnt work though... :P

What do you do when you impersonate the 10th Doc? Act shouty and arrogant? Thats the only way to describe him.

lol Yep. Pretty much. Im sure there were people who'd say I act like that anyway but well. :P
