Doctor Who 2x12 - "Army of Ghosts"

Plot Summary
Ghostly beings have been regularly appearing across the world and people, believing them to be their dead loved ones, are welcoming their visits with open arms. When the TARDIS arrives at the Torchwood Institute, the Tenth Doctor and Rose are taken prisoner. They are drawn into the investigation of a mysterious sphere kept in Torchwood Tower and monstrous foes return as two universes collide.

Danny's Review
A brilliant episode. It had a little bit of everything -- very impressive. Even though Ross attempted on many occasions to spoil it for me, somehow the Daleks still came through as a shocker. Very well written, plenty of humor yet lots of real suspense too. Marvelous -- only to be beaten by next week's, I would imagine!

Boy was I right, or was I right?

Sontaran Of Brunei July 2, 2006 8:44 AM

Very right indeed Ross! :D

Army Of Ghosts - I'm tempted to say that was the best episode of Doctor Who I've ever seen, including the 'classic' series.

They were wrong to ever doubt you Ross....I was with you all the way buddy!

Chris Britton July 3, 2006 2:41 PM

That was an amazing episode!

Ross Hendrie July 4, 2006 7:18 AM

I think you know what my vote is already. :P

I really loved the bit where they were all clapping when the Doctor came out of the TARDIS lol. And the ghostbusters line lol.

My favourite bit of course, was when the Daleks came out and I was proved right. :P

Ugh. It never ends... :(

I'll try once more: it was not the return of the Daleks that I doubted -- I didn't think it likely but I still never discounted it as a possibility. What I did doubt was merely that the focus of the episodes would be a massive war between the Daleks and the Cybermen. And until "Doomsday" airs, we can't comment on that.

But I think we're all looking past the truly important things here, which are that the BBC is making awesome Doctor Who episodes for us to all enjoy watching, not have little fights on silly backwater web forums.

Ronnie Rowlands July 4, 2006 9:38 AM

I have seen the trailers on bbc1, every day they release a new one. They are only short. On one of the trailers, it shows the cyberleader and the daleks suggesting an allaince.

Ronnie Rowlands July 4, 2006 9:39 AM

the second one showed a bunch of soldiers being shot down by Cybermen. They have guns in their arms.

Ross Hendrie July 4, 2006 11:39 AM

If you listen carefully at the bit before the credits, you'll hear Rose talking about a war.

Chris Britton July 4, 2006 12:30 PM

Thats what i was baout to say, the fact Rose calls it a war, perhaps to suggest thats between Humans and the Dalek/Cybermen Alliance, as the trailers have suggested a couple of things, such as Cybermen advancing on Human soldiers, and Cybermen propsing that them and the Daleks could upgrade the human race together. Suggesting it's between humanity and Aliens, I inclined to go with Ross on this, i think the war was not what we orgianally thought, but there will be a war, im sure of that.

Ross Hendrie July 4, 2006 1:37 PM

Exactly, Dalek-Cybermen war could mean a number of things Danny. Like what Chris suggested, it might be Earth vs. Daleks+Cybermen.

Danny Stewart July 4, 2006 2:35 PM

I'm well aware of the trailers and advertisements -- that's what I'm interpreting it as... a war between Earth's forces and the Daleks and Cybermen -- not necessarily working together, but both working against Earth.

Chris Britton July 4, 2006 3:36 PM

So i assume you agree with me :)

Danny Stewart July 5, 2006 8:35 AM

Yes, Chris, you summed up my thoughts well.

Chris Britton July 5, 2006 11:30 AM

Thanks, once again i find a bridge point to avoid you and Ross arguing :)

Ross Hendrie July 5, 2006 2:51 PM

Then again, it sounded like a Cyberman voice that proposed the alliance, and considering that the Cybermen are on the losing side, it might just have been some kind of ploy to prevent their own destruction.

Danny Stewart July 5, 2006 5:37 PM

It was a Cyberman voice. What, you mean you can't tell the difference?

Chris Britton July 6, 2006 2:51 AM

Danny is right, it was a Cybermen Voice.

Does anyone wonder if Lumic might appear? as the front of those BBC radio times covers shows the Cyber Controller, so could be possibly appear?

Ronnie Rowlands July 6, 2006 3:06 AM

I think he will, the Cybercontroller was used for like the last 10 minutes of age of steel, and I doubt they would build a costume like that to be used for 10 minutes of an episode.

Ross Hendrie July 6, 2006 11:25 AM

Yeah id imagine Lumec might appear, but ive not heard any spoilers about it. As for the Genesis Ark... well, who have I been going on about for weeks?
