Problem with pasting.

When I try to paste something an error comes up, link to screenshot of error. Just so you know, my version of Firefox is viewable here. Just wondering what is wrong.

[EDIT] Of course, now I think of trying to use IE to paste my Firefox version into this post, I will try to do that in a few minutes.

You couldn't just write "version 1.0.3" instead of the screenshot, lol? Anyway, that is very odd. I've never seen that before. But because I'm feeling helpful, I'll post this over at the vBulletin support forums and see if anyone over there knows what's going on.

EDIT: I've found a workaround. It isn't permanent, mind you, but it works. Use "Ctrl + V" instead of the Paste button up top. No error then. Believe it or not I receive the exact same error when clicking the Paste button. I'm on Linux, too, using the same version of Firefox.

EDIT #2: The kind folks on the vB support forums have posted a solution. Go here: http://www.ipkonfig.com/cms/index.p...d=165&Itemid=29 Enter "about:config" in your Firefox navigation window. That will pull up all the Firefox settings. Make the appropriate changes.

EDIT #3: While that guide gives you a wonderful speed increase, it doesn't solve the problem. I just posted that and hopefully we'll have a better answer soon.

Thank you, I will try that once I log in again.

Why are you even logged out??? Let alone posting while logged out??? :confused: :confused: :confused:

EDIT: I've found the solution for the paste problem. Follow the procedure below and pasting should work.

  1. Create a file called user.js (or edit it, if it already exists) under C:\Documents and Settings\Your User\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\Your Profile\.
  2. Add the following lines to the user.js file, then save it and restart Firefox:
Code:

user_pref("capability.policy.policynames", "allowclipboard");
user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.sites", "http://www.dannystewart.com/");
user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.sites", "http://www.mozilla.org");
user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.Clipboard.cutcopy", "allAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.Clipboard.paste", "allAccess");

Thank you, though I have another problem, well I forgot my password so I logged out to try to get a new one using a forgotten password link, forgetting that the board couldn't send emails as you have said that there is a problem with it doing so and so I wouldn't be able to get a new password by that method, could you please help me? Sorrry for being a bother.

Danny Stewart April 24, 2005 7:17 AM

Not a bother at all. I'm terribly sorry about the inconvenience I must have caused by not fixing the board's outgoing e-mail. I'll take another crack at that when I can. In the meantime, please login with the temporary password: pass0fe2.

Thank you for helping me.
