Avatar size limit increased

I was feeling generous today, so I decided to increase the avatar size limit from 80 x 80 pixels to 100 x 100 pixels. So go nuts, everyone, and reupload your favorite picture to your profile in all of its new gigantic glory. :D

I see you've used the new Christmas picture on the BBC Doctor Who home page...niiiiiice!!!

Danny Stewart November 28, 2006 11:14 AM

Ben, your avatar is still 80 x 80. :P

You went to all the trouble to get a new one and it's not even as big as it could be. :P

Ben Dawson November 28, 2006 2:03 PM

damn, how do I make it bigger...Image Shack doesn't work with me

Danny Stewart November 28, 2006 2:17 PM

You need some kind of image editing program. The GIMP is free -- try that.

Ben Dawson November 28, 2006 2:26 PM

but there's so many downloads, it's overwhelming...what do I download?

Danny Stewart November 28, 2006 2:53 PM

This and this should suffice.

Ben Dawson November 28, 2006 3:13 PM

I'll give 'em a shot, I'll have to delete it after testing though cos if it's found on there then questions will be asked and I'll be in trouble...as you say, what my mum doesn't know wont hurt her.

What the hell?! It's free, useful, general-purpose software... who cares...

(Note that this is more directed at your mother than you...)

Ben Dawson November 28, 2006 3:16 PM

she doesn't trust what she's never heard of

Danny Stewart November 28, 2006 3:19 PM

Well, that's pretty stupid. There was a time when she'd never heard of Microsoft. Now look at her.

MI7 November 28, 2006 4:03 PM

My mum is pretty much the opposite - she knows so little about computers she just trusts my judgement on things ;). Though I guess if your mum saw a button labelled "GIMP" on your computer, some questions may be asked...:P

Technophobes shouldn't have computers.

'Least they'll all be dead soon. Old age ftw.

That or they'd be too scared to utilise any technology that could make their life any longer...

Ben Dawson November 29, 2006 6:41 AM

she's not afraid, just doesn't trust my judgement on software downloads...and she is not a technophobe...and I do not appreciate you saying that she is and that she'll be dead soon, she's got and getting me through some tough times and she's done a lot for me...she's always been there for me and always tries to understand what I'm going though and always worries when I am going through something bad...so the last thing I need is you telling that she'll be dead soon.

Recurring Villain November 29, 2006 6:58 AM

We'll all be dead eventually.

Unless we openly embrace technology.

Ben Dawson November 29, 2006 7:06 AM

shut up about it, alright.

Recurring Villain November 29, 2006 7:07 AM

You and I are talking about completely different things.

Ben Dawson November 29, 2006 7:11 AM

can we just leave it now...I've said all I need to say.

Danny Stewart November 29, 2006 12:08 PM

Ben, RV's not even on about what you think he's on about. Relax.

Dalek104 December 1, 2006 12:29 PM

I'm having a little trouble. I've got a new 100x100 avatar uploaded, but it keeps on resizing to 80x80. Grr!
