Doctor Who 3x01 - "Smith and Jones"

Plot Summary
When John Smith is found lying in a hospital bed, with a strange twinkle in his eyes, medical student Martha Jones finds her life turned upside-down. In no time at all, a lightning storm sends the Royal Hope Hospital to the moon and Martha must cope with the fierce Judoon, a blood-sucking Plasmavore and a strange blue box. And soon she realises John Smith isn't really who he says he is...

I might as well repeat what I said in the other thread...

Great to have Who back! I eagerly await the next episode! :D
But no new theme.

Ben Dawson March 31, 2007 2:38 PM

it was great, but let me just calmly ask, just out of curiosity, what the hell was wrong with the other one? I tried my best to follow your instructions, and I WAS bothered to do it, I spent like half an hour to try and follow your instructions, but you know what, if that's the bull shit I'm gonna get, then screw the damn thing. Maybe not as calmly as I intended, but whatever, I can't see what the big mess was about. And I just wanted to say how I felt.

  • You didn't have number ratings (instead of "10/10 - Fantastic" it just said "Fantastic")
  • You put "3x1" instead of "3x01"
  • "Plot Summary" and the actual plot summary should be on different lines
  • You did not enable "Make votes public" so the votes could be seen
I originally planned merely to fix your poll instead of reposting it, but the biggest mistake could not be fixed. "Make votes public" cannot be enabled after the poll is posted, so essentially the results of that poll are useless.

Ben Dawson March 31, 2007 2:49 PM

well, it should have been more clear. But fine, I wont try it again.

It was perfectly clear. I outlined it step-by-step, and showed exactly what the checkboxes should look like.

If that's how you feel. Or you could learn and do it right next time. :P

Generally it should be left to the moderators anyway.

Ben Dawson March 31, 2007 2:55 PM

fine, I just thought I'd see how good I could do it.
Anyway, doesn't matter, Doctor Who is back, and so far it's looking fantastic (well, great, by my vote :P). A great first episode, to get you excited about the series, hell this is the series. Can't wait 'til next week now.

Jez March 31, 2007 3:27 PM

Meh, it was good, nothing much more.

Ross Hendrie March 31, 2007 3:28 PM

FFS can we stop arguing about the damn poll. :P

Anyways, I shall repeat what I said in the other thread:

I thought this was an excellent start to the series. All-in-all a neat little episode.

We were already done. Way to start it back up again. :P

Anyway, I thought it was especially good, by RTD's standards. I give it an 8 out of 10.

Ronnie Rowlands April 1, 2007 5:07 AM

I quite enjoyed. Don't know what the hell was going on with David Tennant's hair, and it was a bit rushed IMO. 7/10. But that's good for RTD's standards.

Mercury April 13, 2007 4:27 AM

I gave it a 9, maybe partly out of joy at having a good season opener this year...seems like it got the public's attention well with the high ratings and appreciation and good follow on to the next week (good weather & easter notwithstanding!)

Danny Stewart April 13, 2007 10:29 AM

Very much agreed. I thought it was leaps and bounds above "New Earth" last year.

Ross Hendrie April 13, 2007 12:23 PM

New Earth kinda sucked tbh. The only people who liked it were all those fangirls who went wild at the kiss between Rose and the Doctor.

Ronnie Rowlands April 13, 2007 12:25 PM

and small children.

Danny Stewart April 13, 2007 12:57 PM

I enjoyed "New Earth" but only on my first viewing. Going back and rewatching it now grows more and more painful for me. It's really not a very strong episode at all.

I completely agree with you there. It's a shame, but at least there are plenty of excellent episodes! :D

True! Can't argue with that.

And we can always hope that "Gridlock" will improve the visage of New Earth (the planet, not the episode).

Dalek104 April 13, 2007 1:26 PM

Apparently, it's going to be a "much grittier New Earth". From the looks of the preview, it's a lot darker.

Danny Stewart April 13, 2007 1:45 PM

I know. That's what I'm counting on.
