Doctor Who - new CIN hybrid themes
You all probably remember my fairly popular "hybrid" themes from a while back, where I combined various versions of the Doctor Who theme with the totally orchestral version by Murray Gold and Ben Foster that was played at the Children in Need concert. I'm pleased to be able to post new versions of both of my original themes, as well as a new version I just put together a few days ago.
CIN Derbyshire v2 The intended result of the Gold theme. A combination of orchestral elements with Delia Derbyshire's original samples. CIN Delaware A combination of the Gold theme with elements of the 1973 Delaware theme. CIN Howell v1 My original version of the CIN Howell theme. CIN Howell v2 A combination of orchestral elements with samples from Peter Howell's 1980 version of the theme. CIN Glynn My new offering. A combination of orchestral elements with Dominic Glynn's 1986 version of the theme. I hope you all enjoy them! |
They're fantastic! My favorite is the Glynn one, it seems to blend really well. :) They all(particularly the Howell and Glynn ones) sound a bit bumpy near the end, but they're still great. Thumbs up! :)
Have you tried merging the CIN theme with the '67 Derbyshire theme? Or would the echoey bassline and spangles sound weird with the orchestral sounds? |

Great stuff! I like these. Well done, Danny. :)
|
Main problem with the Glynn one is that the snares frequently clash with Dom's bassline but apart from that it came out as the best one there is I think, especially the bridge section, which sounds perfect.

These are really good! Also my favourite is the Glynn one, I love the start.:D

OMG! Tom, wow, I think you really have it on the wrong pitch really badly. The Keffie theme is up five semitones from Derbyshire and Gold. Ouch!

Fixed for joo :P. http://filexoom.com/files/2006/11/21...CINKeffie3.mp3 |
Less awkwkard but now it scares me. :D
|
It's still Keff. That side effect won't go away. :P
|
Hey, love all the Hybrid Themes, will you be doing any with either the seventh and eighth doctor themes? :)
|
Thank you, Richard! The Seventh Doctor's theme is a possibility, given time, but I doubt I will be able to do anything with the Eighth Doctor's theme -- the whole point of these combined themes is to mix electronic with orchestral. There seems little point to mix orchestral with orchestral. But keep watching this thread -- you never know what other themes I might combine it with. ;)
|
What about the Eighth Doctor's Big Finish theme? Yeah, It'd need to be sped up to fit but it might sound good.
MI7 already did the seventh doctor's theme didn't he? :P Or does he have another theme I'm not aware of? |
We all know that my perfectionism does not allow anyone but me to make CIN hybrid themes. If I decide to do a Keff version, MI7's version will not stand in my way -- mine will take a lot longer, and it will sound better than what almost anyone else can do. Sorry Tom. :P

Love the Howell version. Gives me the chills... the good kind :D
Any chance we could see a version using the John Debney music? I'm a bit of a sucker for the TV Movie theme. :) Actually I've got another suggestion. How about different versions of John Debney arrangement using the different series music samples like you've done with Gold's arrangement? |
