Uninstallation problems
I'm clearing up my computer for my dad(I can't do a fresh install, this computer didn't come with its own XP disk. :P Plus my dad doesn't want to waste time on the updates it would need if we used the recovery CDs), and I'm almost done. I just need to uninstall the CS3 programs, one of which I used a keygen on...
Their uninstallers are being crappy. Would just deleting their Program Files work? |
Absolutely not, I'm sorry to say. That may be how you uninstall a program on a Mac, but on Windows, it leaves a nightmarish web-like hierarchy of files all over your system in a horrific mess of DLLs, registry entries, and other terrifying clutter in about sixty-five places other than the one you selected when you installed it. You really need to use a program's official uninstaller when removing a program -- especially for something as complicated as Adobe software (which would leave even more files all over the system than an ordinary application).
Also, in response to your reasons why you can't do a fresh install: 1) find one and make it work, and 2) suck it up. :P |
Crud.
I guess I'll just leave them there. The uninstallers won't work. It's not like my dad's going to use them. You see, this is an awesome HP Media Center PC that he's about to get. :P I haven't really used it as such very often but he will, he's gonna record TV and everything. Thanks anyway. ;) |

Beleive me I'd gladly do it. But he doesn't have the patience for it, unfortunately.

Perhaps I can drive down to Florida and fix it for you myself. I'll bring a shiny new custom XP disc and everything. :P |
Heh, that'd be nice. :P
Well, I must be off to bed now. This should be my last post on this computer. My next post here should be on my brand new iMac. :) |
