What browser do you use?

Let's find out! Maybe I'll do a pie chart later.

Firefox represent.

Superkid11 March 20, 2008 9:34 AM

Camino, but also Firefox and Safari. I'm becoming more and more fond of Safari due to its excellent speed and java handling.
(which is why I play Runescape in safari)

The main reason I prefer Camino for general browsing is the loading bar is on the bottom. In Safari it's in the URL page. On top of that, whenever I make a post in a forum or something the post button doesn't become unclickable. I wound up sending two PMs that way.
(this was somewhere else, not here)

Sir, you have the most ridiculous reasons for browser preference ever.

Safari represent -- on both Windows and Mac.

Firefox ftw.

Kody March 20, 2008 4:01 PM

Firefox die hard here, but I'll admit I ran away screaming from IE, was embraced lovingly by Firefox.. and haven't tried anything else yet. ;)

Still a dirty Windows XP user as well, I really need to give this whole 'Mac' thing a try sometime.

I was like you a while ago, except I actually tried a few others and never found one I liked. Even since I switched to Apple's camp, I stuck to Firefox like glue for quite a long time (over a year). Lately, though, I decided that I wanted to use Apple apps for everything (Safari for web, Mail for email, iChat for IM, etc.), to keep things integrated and try to get Apple's innovation-driven approach to all my common applications. I've been quite happy with everything so far, and Apple and I share a common vision as to what a browser should be like (blisteringly fast, lots of useful features and an innovative approach to old standards like bookmarks but without unnecessary frills), and especially since Safari 3 came out I've been exceedingly happy browsing from Safari on both Mac and Windows. It's faster than any other browser on any platform, and that's a fact. Firefox 3 is catching up but Safari still has a substantial lead.

It's the way to go these days. :)

You know what.. I think I will. I've stated how much I love Firefox, but one of the things that has been getting on my nerves lately, even using the latest beta builds of it.. is the speed.

I have a very decent computer, but I can't count the times per day that Firefox lags out.. locks up as a white screen.. or does something stupid when I dare to have other programs running.

I'm all for trying out new technologies/software, so.. here goes nothing. Time for the first brave step into apple territory.. well, not counting iTunes.

Having now used OSX extensively I've learned to appreciate all the things XP did right.

Wtf...? I think there's something wrong with your computer, not with Firefox.

Kody March 21, 2008 12:50 AM

Nope, the computer is running like a breeze.. otherwise. Never have any lag with anything else, even doing heavy work in Photoshop, or running graphically demanding games.. really puzzles me.

About to see how Safari handles it all soon.

Runescape.

...I'm sorry, I'm suffering from withdrawal. I currently have no way to play games.

Oh GOD IT BURNS!

Unable to play any games? What madness is this? Don't have anything that works on the shiny new Mac, or?

Hmm.. de-railing the topic as well, I shall amend that slightly. Just installed Safari and have been testing it out, impressed so far.. it loaded my custom Google start page near instantly and the same for my Gmail, Firefox always seems to take awhile on those.

Can't I add a 'Add New Tab' button to the navigation bar, or do I just use key + click combos? Minor things like that are my only issues so far.. but damn it loads everything fast.

Josef Kenny March 21, 2008 3:42 AM

Ctrl+T adds a new tab, and you can arrange the tabs around and drag them off into new windows and other such stuff.

FanOfWho March 21, 2008 6:20 AM

I use firefox as it seems to be the fastest one to load web pages :)

Recurring Villain March 21, 2008 7:48 AM

I just installed the Firefox 3 beta.

It fits in with OS X more, although the sort of blade things in the URL and search boxes look pretty stupid.

Other than the aesthetics there doesn't seem to be much of a difference, although it does seem to be a bit faster.

EDIT: Just noticed that Digg's comment system is now super fast where it used to be uber laggy (minimizing/maximizing comments). Not sure what that entails, though...
