New permissions setup
 

I've just overhauled the forums' permissions setup largely from scratch. I've allowed guests access to more of the site (but obviously with no posting capability). Hopefully this will curb registrations of the annoying people who join just to see what the site is about then disappear.

IMPORTANT: Since the permissions have all been redone from scratch, please let me know if you notice any permissions weirdness around the site (i.e. you don't have access to something you used to, or you suddenly see something you never saw before).

I've also created a new distinction. There are now Basic Members and Premier Members. From now on, people who join the site are automatically Basic Members until they have been a member for 30 days and made 50 posts on the site. Once that happens, you are automatically elevated to Premier Member status. Basic Members are not able to view or post attachments, and many features of the site will be limited. I've also added a paid option to the site that allows you to elevate yourself to Premier Member status instantly for $10. I realize no one's ever going to buy it, but hey, it's not a bad idea in case someone is dumb enough. :)
