VIRUS WARNING - "Mail Server Report"
A new virus is making the rounds online. It has the ability to completely erase your hard drive and send your personal information to the hacker responsible. And so far, no anti-virus software program has proven effective against it.
Here's the e-mail I received from a friend: Anyone-using Internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on. This information arrived this morning, direct from both Microsoft and Norton Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the Internet. You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail titled 'Mail Server Report'. If you open either file*, a message will appear on your screen saying: 'It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful.' Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC, And the person who sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password. This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the anti virus softwares are not capable of destroying it. The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner'. PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS E-MAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, And ask them to PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY! THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY SNOPES. http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/mailserver.asp * This suggests that the e-mail comes with at least one attachment. Do not open either the e-mail or the attachment. Check your e-mail immediately and delete any 'Mail Server Report' e-mails or related files and attachments without opening them. Thanks for reading. |
IF YOU DO NOT SEND THIS TO 9000 DIFFERENT PEOPLE THE VIRUS WILL INFECT YOUR MOM.
... If you're dumb enough to open a file you weren't expecting to receive, you deserve to get a virus. The best defence against virii is not being a dumb fuck. |
I laugh at you pathetic Windows users and your viruses.

I wound up being redirected to this page twice with this PDF file that supposedly caused a virus. It obviously didn't do crap to me(<3 iMac), but I thought I'd mention it. I forgot the name of the site already... The site it was on, not the site I was redirected from.
(well, actually, it was a php script that opened a pdf...) As I recall, the only Mac virus there's ever been is this one that claimed to be free porn. Naturally, it exploits stupidity rather than OS X. :P |

Don't be that guy, Danny. Just don't. |
Here we go... didn't we do this over a year ago?

http://tr.im/gry4 Sorry to rain on your troll parade. Now kindly go fuck yourself. I'm so tired of taking shit from you on this subject. |

RV I understand completely that you may want to reply, but I'd rather this ended now. Considering that the debates/insult slingings/trollings that took place over a year ago went completely nowhere, I'll just lock this up... But in closing, it's been my experience that macs are comparatively priced to similarly powered commercial windows computers, but said PCs have a wide range of quality, where as Apple sticks to a certain level. Self-built ones are generally less expensive but lack tech support. That's what I've seen. I don't care if I'm right or wrong, I don't want this damn argument to happen again. EDIT: Given that a new thread was just posted... I give up. Have at it... |
Seriously
You got trolled, Danny.
You are "that guy". Especially considering in lieu of an exchange of ideas you defer to preventing further discourse. I can't imagine what you do when people call you names on the playground. |
sigh...

Considering how long you've known each other I would imagine Danny would know to do that by now... |
