BitTorrent downloads

Have you seen that one? That one is great.

I wanted to add something, by the way. Not that I would ever endorse filesharing of any kind *cough*, but Demonoid has the complete original Doctor Who series on their site, sorted by Doctor. I'm using it to pick out episodes I don't have or haven't seen in a long time to complete my collection. Well worth a look.

Is it virus free?

I think the old style of writing seemed better actually, I mean then they could put down anything on paper that sounds good and remotely cool.

Danny Stewart November 5, 2005 11:51 AM

*bashes head into keyboard*

Virus, virus, virus. No, Ross, it's infected with 27 different viruses and I'm trying to trick you into downloading it so that your computer will blow up.

Audio and video files cannot contain viruses.

Ross Hendrie November 5, 2005 3:47 PM

Well then, can you give us link to the site then?

Danny Stewart November 5, 2005 6:13 PM

I already posted it above. Look under Demonoid. You do need to have an account, however. I believe I tried giving you one before, without much luck. We can try it again, though.

EDIT: Here are the instructions for getting an account on Demonoid. Just go to the regular register option (should be on the front page), and when asked for an invite code, just provide one of the codes below. (These codes are good for one week only.)

Good luck and write back with questions!

Oh you mean it's for a Bittorrent thing, no no no. I got rid of Azureus months ago and dont plan on re-downloading it.

Danny Stewart November 5, 2005 8:20 PM

You'd be really stupid to try and download Doctor Who via something other than BitTorrent. :P

Oh, by the way, I have another program that I'd like you to try. It's called µTorrent. It has many of the same features as Azureus but it's much lighter on memory and CPU and therefore a great deal faster. But of course, Mr. Paranoid won't try it because he had a bad experience once and now he's afraid to set foot outside again.

Honestly, I'm rather tired of your knee-jerk paranoid responses to ridiculously simple and mostly safe things.

Threat of viruses = Extreme paranoia and unreasonable reactions

Virus warning from antivirus software = Freak out, run away and never use the program that spawned the potential virus again

Actual infection of virus = Disconnection of internet wire for minimum of 180 days; three hard drive reformats and data zeroing; restoration from confirmed safe backup; possible suicide or at minimum locking self into closet for long period

Where does it stop?

Ross Hendrie November 6, 2005 8:39 AM

LOL Danny that's taking it a bit far.

Come on MSN and we can talk about this new program.

Chris Britton November 9, 2005 5:03 PM

Yes, let us all go out for Beer and chips :P

Danny Stewart November 9, 2005 7:55 PM

And torrent files? :P

Ross Hendrie November 10, 2005 11:07 AM

Why do torrent files work for everyone except me. I mean im getting pretty frelled off at this. I have a better computer than everyone else I know who does it - except Danny - and it works fine for them at speeds of 100kbs + ... why not me.

Danny Stewart November 10, 2005 12:25 PM

It's clearly something wrong with your internet settings -- I'm just not sure what. I've already told you I'll try to work with you a bit later on about fixing it.

Chris Britton November 10, 2005 12:44 PM

Maybe a firefox issue?

Danny Stewart November 11, 2005 10:05 AM

Impossible -- Firefox settings would only affect Firefox. This is a completely different program.

Ross Hendrie November 12, 2005 7:57 AM

Danny the downloading speed is maintaining 100 kb/s plus!

Danny Stewart November 12, 2005 9:40 AM

That's fantastic, Ross! I'm extremely glad to hear that!

Ross Hendrie November 12, 2005 11:44 AM

I obviously celebrated too soon. When I tried to play the file my computer crashed. It has done that every time ive successfully downloaded episodes before on other computers. It must have been corrupted. There's no other explanation.

Danny Stewart November 13, 2005 9:52 AM

Now now, no reason to lose your cool. Let's analyze this step by step. First of all, you're sure that the file finished downloading completely, right? If so, then go to this website and download the full package. Install it, then try to play your video file with Media Player Classic (which comes with that installer). If that doesn't work, then we have some more thinking to do, but give that a try first.

Ross Hendrie November 13, 2005 11:59 AM

No wait you dont understand, my computer is crashing because I try to play this. Will the player make a difference?

Danny Stewart November 13, 2005 3:31 PM

Don't tell me I don't understand, I understand perfectly. I don't know if the player will help, but it is a strong possibility.
