Don't you all think this debate is getting out of hand?

Danny, if people want their computers to be filled with spyware and viruses even after you have told them why that is wrong, then just let them. It'd be a better lesson for something to happen like them to lose all their data than you going on at them when they arn't going to change their mind because of what you say.

Ross, have you tried looking yourself at what goes on with Linux? As that's the only way you are going to see whether your fears are true or not, not just going "OmGz, aNy1 c4N c teh c0dE!!11!!1 AnY1 c4N sUbM17!!1111!" and use your common sense, for the submissions by anyone with maliceous intent to reach your combuter it would first have to go through testing, be avalible for download and then you would have to update your computer with the maliceous code, I don't know whether or not that's the full picture but that's the impression I have got from looking around, perhaps Danny could explain the process in detail.
