It does require a lot of time/work to become comfortable with using it, but I think it's got a good rep. That said, FLStudio has a good rep for being very simple to use, yet, being possible to make entire albums that actually sound decent on it.

I still use PS 6.0. The differences between the versions are tiny given that anything is possible with suitable skill.
