The Doctor Who Theme Manuscript

This is a record of the last sighting of the manuscript containing the instructions for producing the Doctor Who theme, written by Ron Grainer for Delia Derbyshire.

The manuscript notation that formed the basis for the Doctor Who theme was last seen at a convention in 1994. Mark Ayres had brought it to form part of a display of old documentation including scripts, floor plans etc. During one of the panel sessions it was taken from its display case by Dominic Glynn and folded neatly into a paper aeroplane which bounced off Keff McCulloch's head shortly afterward.

This was followed by a cry of "Now read that and get your bloody theme right next time!" from Dominic Glynn, who had to be restrained by Sarah Sutton and Matthew Waterhouse as he attempted to put Keff McCulloch in a headlock.

Mark Ayres meanwhile was crawling on the floor attempting to locate the manuscript, when he was trodden on by a slightly tipsy Tom Baker and had to be taken to hospital for surgery on his left hand. The manuscript is still missing to this day.
