I tried to install some drivers for my old ATI X600 using Automatix(?), and they refused to work. I restarted the computer and, lo and behold, that thing (GNOME is it?) that let me choose the OS I booted into was gone and it went straight into Ubuntu.
Luckily a friend of mine was helping me out and he managed to fix the problem.

That must've been pretty damn scary. Whenever my computers have problems it drives me insane.
... and I plan on using the KDE version.
