The enemies did have telescopic site.

And it was easy to kill the bad guys. It was the damn mutants that wrecked the game the majority of people. Especially the rocket-noob-mutants.

He just kept talking in one long incredibly unbroken sentence moving from topic to topic so that no one had a chance to interrupt him it was really quite hypnotic.
