The new series
can stand on its own and does
not need to be compared to the old series. However it's just horrible television, compared or not compared. I believe Doctor Who is best taken seriously. People are probably going to find that silly, but I watch it for serious entertainment. That's the show I love. I don't care about the campness or the bad sets or effects. I watch it because I love the idea behind it, and I love the characters and the storylines. But I just can't love this new impostor calling himself the Doctor, or the utterly ridiculous and frankly insulting situations he continually finds himself in.

That's how I walked into the episode as well. I had low expectations but I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised. It left me nauseous regardless.
