They should at least install VLC for all the codecs it comes with. Personally I prefer VLC to QT 'cause it's way less bloated and has a bunch of crap you can do to mess with the file.
For the noobcaptain, though, QT is probably sufficient. Just don't be surprised when it doesnt recognize that bluray rip you downloaded off TPB.
