Machinima

EDIT: Bah, posted this in Dr Who Music rather than general Dr Who. Could someone move it, pretty please?
Danny: Moved for you.

Uh yeah I think this is OK here. Machinima is the art of creating films from video games. They are made in the same way as normal movies but within video game engines. Some games used include Halo, Half Life, GTA and The Sims 2. I have been creating machinimas for two years now and have recenently started making Doctor Who machinimas.

Any help offered with scripting, music or even voice acting etc is graciously appreciated.

NB - The guy who helped me make the Pilot had the username "kippers". Just so you know. The name WILL be changed in future episodes . Oh and the Pilot kind of sucked compared to my newer episodes.

Pilot - The Last Planet
The Doctor, Millie and Kippers arrive on Mondas before the dawn of the Cybermen. Faced with the same choice as he once had with the Daleks, the Doctor opts to destroy the Mondasians before the creation of the Cybermen. Meanwhile, an old foe is trying to escape...

I've just seen the pilot. It could do with some refinement but it's entertaining nonetheless. I'm happy to help with both scripting and music if you need it.

OK Episode One will be coming along very soon assuming I have no more problems with Sony Vegas .

Some info for you:

I decided to take the first "Block" (to use a RTD-ism) of episodes in a direction that has only really been done once before: a solo Doctor.

Also, if anyone wishes to write an episode or create a plot, PM me. There's the choice of Episode 4, 8 or 9. I'm pretty much open to suggestions.

I might be able to come up with something for you. Also, great choice on video editing software -- Sony Vegas is my favorite by far!

Dunno if this should go in the creative section now? Though there isn't a "Film" section there I guess . Any word on how my "requests" are coming Danny?

I like Vegas the most too. Movie Maker with Windows is far too simplistic and Premiere Pro from Adobe I find much to indepth. I DO use Adobe After Effects to do Post-Production Effects though.

Apologies about the delay with this for the two or three people that want to see this . There's complications with the applications I use running on v2.0 San Andreas.

There's a film section now -- I've combined it with Artwork.

Hmm I can no longer edit the first post, any idea why? Or is it just me being an idiot again?

I believe there's a time limit on the editing of posts. Three days, probably, which it looks like it's just reached.

Finally I have managed to get Episode One finished and uploaded... NOTE: YouTube works again now!
Watch at YouTube here!
Download from FileFront

Thanks a ton to Danny for his musical help! Episode Two should be coming sooner than Episode One did .

Here's the updated Season info, I'd appreciate it if Danny could update the first post! (if not, maybe I should make a new topic - "Doctor Who Fan Series" does make a better title than "Machinima" after all!)

that one was good, it would be good if you could enlist some help for speaking the lines, but apart from that, really good

Yes the one weak point is that it is subtitled which makes it more difficult to get right at times, I'll have to get some help with that perhaps.

Yes, this one was far cleaner and better edited than the pilot. Well done.

I have one piece of advice for you though about the subtitles. When they're on a white background (as they were for some of this episode) they're completely unreadable. Use Vegas to add a black drop shadow behind it. That'll make it readable no matter where it is.

Also, of course, I'm glad my music found its way in there and was helpful to your production. (Except of course all that was in this one was recreating of Murray's stuff...) I look forward to providing more for you later on though.

I've actually fixed that up in the version submitted to Machinima.com. I love receiving the music you create Danny, it's always a surprise seeing what you come up with. It's just a shame your singing voice leaves a lot to be desired or I'd ask you to make a song for the Christmas special .

singing voice?..........................Post it on here, we've had photos, family members, now a voice is all we need (apart from the Dalek and Cybermen voices).

That was a joke Ben, I haven't actually heard Mr. Stewarts singing voice, presumably for a good reason .

Especially right now -- I'm deathly ill and bedridden for significant periods during the day at the moment, and my voice is the greatest casualty!
