Anime

What do you like? Or do you just hate it?

I'm surprisingly a big fan of it, just not all the mainstream stuff.
Pokemon, for instance, can go die a bloody death.

Then again, not sure if I can call myself a big fan, because I haven't seen a TON of series.

In no order, what I've seen:

Cowboy Bebop
.hack//sign
Trinity Blood
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Full Metal Alchemist
Lodoss War
Apppleseed

I -think- that's all of them.. then of course random episodes from many others, like Trigun, that I really want to watch at some point.

NGE was my introduction to anime, dear god, talk about a fucking mind warping introduction. Crazy stuff.

Then Cowboy Bebop, still one of my favorites.

Full Metal Alchemist was next, I adore that series utterly and completly. The movie sucked, but the series was amazing.

Recently when all my Doctor Who DVD's and other DVD's were stolen (yeah, meh), I dug out this old spindle of DVD's that friends had burned for me and saw a lot of anime marked ones I never touched.

Decided to give Bleach a shot, on episode 73 right now.. it's really surprised me. I expected not to like it for some reason, but I'm totally becoming asorbed by it now.

So yeah, what do you guys like, if anything?

Oh, also.. subbed / dubbed / don't care?

I only will watch subbed. I love hearing the orginal actors. When it's re-done in english, they butcher the lines, story and half the time the actors they get suck.

I watched FMA subbed ages ago, then caught a dubbed episode.. the voices were so jarring and off for the characters I just shut it off.

Then again the biggest argument I hear against subbed is 'But we have to read!' - ... STFU.

Mostly Americans, of course.

Bleach is cool, just avoid the fillers. For serious. Some of its fillers are actually pretty good but it does have a fair share of "Blah" to utterly retarded ones.

DBZ was really my first anime. Still a guilty pleasure for me.

Death Note is definitely one of the best, if you haven't seen it you definitely should. Not much "action"(sans for some char chases, police raids and chases... other chases... and a brief fistfight in the Yotsuba arc), but it's still awesome. AND NO FILLERS

I used to like the Pokemon anime, and I still like the early episodes. Despise what it's become though.

And yeah, I'm into Naruto too... it gets way WAY better with Shippuden.

Loved FMA too. Never saw the movie...

I have some Death Note, few DVD's of it in this huge stack as well.. not sure how many, but I'll give it a shot next.

I haven't really seen many fillers yet in Bleach, or am I just not noticing them? The few 'fluff' episodes I seemed to enjoy. Maybe I just like it too much, haha.

When RV was a wee lad he watched Pokemon, Digimon and DBZ on early morning TV.

RV still thinks Digimon is better than Pokemon and won't let anyone tell him otherwise.

These days RV keeps anime away with a large stick.

Mainly you just want to avoid the Bount arc(haven't seen much of it yet but the premise sounds a little... odd) and the episode where the shinigami help the ghost of a chef bake a cake.

There's one filler arc during the Arrancar arc that's actually really good.

I actually agree. As far as the anime goes anyway. As far as the games... I've never played the games.

Yeah.. getting into the Bount stuff now, it just seems drawn out for some reason. Beat the crap out of them already, please.

Wait are you watching the dub version or the subbed version?

I'm watching both. Yeah, my thoughts exactly on the current place in the dub version.

At 77 of subbed right now, they've been dealing with the bount for a little bit.. but yeah, it's the least exciting stuff so far.

I never watch dubbed for the most part.

Oh well currently they're in the Modsoul's "game". I thought "beat the crap out of them already" too during that part.

Same with me. Although the Pokemon games still have a place in my heart (not the new ones, mind).

The games were good, but the TV show was all pansy happy niceness. The Digimon TV show was giant robot monsters killing and enslaving each other. Totally awesome for a kids show.

The Pokemon movie is surprisingly good... if you like Pokemon.

It's just a pity Mewtwo doesn't win and enslave the pathetic humans.

I'm proud to say I watched the first 5 Pokemon movies.

The 5th sucked though.

Never liked Digimon though it was trying to copy Pokemon and failing!

Minor update.

On episode.. 154 of Bleach now, utterly and completly addicted to it. Hence my avatar of awesome.

Even been playing the fighter game of it on my DS. At least for that I have the excuse that it's VERY well made, pretty much agreed as the best fighter on the DS at the moment. Rock on.

Love the new story arc!

Watched the first episode of Death Note last night, dear god that was dark.. but for some reason it was really interesting, think I may have to start watching it as well. Super's avatar is now all scary.

Please don't kill us.

L never used the notebook.

Also, Jamie, Digimon actually came around before Pokemon...

Also RV you should look up the Pokemon Adventures/Special Manga. An Arbok gets ripped in half by a Charmeleon and that same arc has rotting zombie Pokemon in it. It's scary how different it is compared to the anime.

As for the Pokemon manga by Toshihiro Ono... well, boobs. :]

Anyway, you should definitely watch Death Note. It's awesome. I do think it's overrated, but still awesome. And the english dubbed version is actually good I thought.(I've seen both)

Oh I know, but still, it reminds me of the scary notebook.

I swear when anyone says 'shinigami' in Death Note now though, I always think Bleach.

Pokémon was devised in the early 90s (around 1991) as "Capsule Monsters" at Game Freak, then Game Freak tarted it up as "Pocket Monsters" and submitted it to Nintendo after Nintendo had bought them. Nintendo accepted, and when Pocket Monsters finished development the name Pokémon referenced in the game was used for an abbreviation and the actual name of the game in western territories. We're up to about 1998 now.

The kids, they listen to the rap music, which gives them the brain damage, you see?
