I bought The Da Vinci Code in March of this year, after most of the hype died down. I still haven't read it though.

Don't bother, unless you wish to waste a significant part of your life reading that crap.

Dale Brown is another matter - brilliant action books.

(With hints of Sci-Fi too. The last one I read (Act Of War) featured a nerdy US Major who headed up an Army Research team that had just recently developed a bio-mechanical robot (a bit like the Metal Gear seen in MGS 2, but smaller). Great stuff.

He just kept talking in one long incredibly unbroken sentence moving from topic to topic so that no one had a chance to interrupt him it was really quite hypnotic.

Perhaps I won't then. Not like it was high on my priority list anyway.

I haven't read it but the overwhelming opinion I've heard (outside the media) was that it was pointless due to a lack of plot or....anything for that matter.

The only person who said they liked it accused me of "never reading" and "spending too much time on the internet" (because apparently the latter doesn't include reading stuff, only looking at it). Unfortunately for him, I had just happened to buy the Dale Brown book I mentioned in my last post an hour before that event. I held it up to his face and shouted "Seventh book this year!" (it was the start of March). That quickly shut him up (and made him go red ).

Blimey, this was when I was at college....strange times!
