Lonely God

One of my new videos. I think its an improvement in places (no crossfade at all) but there is something about it that nags me so tell me what you think!

Looked at Final Cut Express today at my local Apple Store and its perfect for what I want. And its incredible how much stuff it has. Final Cut Pro must be HUGE if its at least twice the price.

lol really like to see a video that uses all 99 video and audio layers!

So here it is:

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

Rated GD - Guidance for Danny

Contains mild scenes of a LOTTL and VOTD nature.

They are mild however and are bettered by clips of more awesome value!

On the one hand, I think fan videos are a good way for aspiring filmmakers to learn editing techniques.

On the other hand, is sharing them really necessary?

It is for this reason.

Mind you looks like most people are ignoring it anyway. SO probably looking for tips in the wrong place.

Sorry for not taking the time to review this properly before. The video is actually fairly well done. With continued practice you will likely get even better at this.

That said, there are a few issues. For one thing, it's too long. It fails to really maintain your attention at its present length. I would consider scaling it back by at least two minutes or so.

Secondly, the music is very disjointed. It's too loud, for starters, and it also jumps between that horribly overused trailer music (the name escapes me at the moment) and some of Murray's stuff. You should be more consistent, keep the music quieter, and also try and avoid that music you clearly love so much as it's way, way overdone and difficult to take seriously anymore.

FCP is definitely too much for someone like you. It's for major productions and film studios. I'd say FCE will do very well for what you're looking for.

Requiem for a Dream...

I agree, I honestly cry every time I hear it now. It's so overused.

I thought it was Requiem for a Tower... but then again I have that full song and only the end matches it.

I agree with Danny. If it were a little shorter and maybe with a change in music it'd be great.

I realized it was a bit lengthy but I wanted to put some action in and keep Lux Aeterna (the calm bit) at the beginning. So this meant it would be lengthy. I also wanted to put the Doctors story in it (Gallifrey etc) but I still didn't have enough time to.

Music I definitely find hardest especially with iMovie. (SK is right it is the Two Towers version of Requiem For A Dream). Volume is a pain getting it to the right level so sometimes I just make it full. I do love Lux Aeterna though and I like it loud (makes it more dramatic). Thinking of using Globus - Preliator soon.

Annoyed that the River speech music came through a bit too much but it was necessary to hear the dialogue. I sort of like the Doctor Forever poking through when Gallifrey is being described.

They end bit very disjointed but I wanted *pfft* We'll be gone"

I'm looking into it and hopefully will get it.

I've made a S3 Mid series trailer but it needs some redefining so hopefully will sort it out soon.

Requiem for a Tower was the remix Howard Shore did for the Two Towers trailer...this may be it I'm not sure, or it may be the original Requiem for a Dream music.
