Well. We were contacted several months ago by a French village named Coullemont, who had a relative of ours buried in their Church graveyard, and he was the only soldier buried there. So anyway they invited us over for a memorial, and they had the town pipe band there. It was quite good I must admit.

Gravestone Enscription:

My dad's hugely into genealogy and has traced back his family many generations. I know many of the Stewart line have fought in various wars. Would you like me to ask my dad about it and post some of the family tree on here?

I would love to see it, tell your dad i would love to find out more. In fact my mum has traced her line back to the 1400's and she has found some nice things, Including one descendant of her family line who left Bristol for Maryland, with his man servant and a Cow. His name was Nathaniel Stintchcombe I tihnk, does it ring a bell Danny?

Unfortunately I haven't heard the name before, but let me do some digging and see if I can find him. I will also see what records my dad has available.

Hey hey hey, can we create a seperate geneology thread for all this?

Btw Chris, he wasn't killed in action, it was most likely a disease. But we're not sure. However... he did perform severeal heroic actions, such as in 1916 when the Germans attacked and broke through the British line, and the rest of the men seemed to run away. Robert however, stayed with his machine gun and held off the Germans until re-inforcements arrived. I think he did the same again in 1918. Won the Military Medal both times for it.

I see, nice work, sorry about that Ross, I guessed he was KIA, but it sounds like he was a hero all the same, well done to him.

OK, thwe reason i asked if that descendant's name rang a bell was because i wonderedc if you might have heard of it Danny, or if you knew anyone by the name, I know you don't know, I just thought i could ask.
