Half Remix

So here's a sort of half-remix from me. Bear in mind this is my first ever attempt at messing with the theme in any way .

I heard the "Regenerations 2006" remix on Whomix and wondered what it would sound like if the 2005 and 2006 themes were cut together.

So after several hours and a battle with a radioactive monkey I created the theme, which I have christened "Doctor Who Epic Theme" despite the fact that it isn't very epic. After fighting off the effects of the monkey venom, I have uploaded it for your listening torture (it isn't brilliant though I am happy with the opening 30 seconds).

Download at Uploading.com

As this is my first attempt I am welcome to any improvement suggestions/constructive criticism.

it's a little miss timed at points, but good. That's my only problem with it.

With some practice, it could be a lot better, but it's a great start!

It certainly was interesting, haha. It took me a few play throughs to understand what you'd done. You blended the closing themes from both series. Well done. Have you got any more projects on the go?

Thanks for all your comments guys! I've made an edited v2 below. It's about 15 seconds longer and structured a bit differently.

And stutomo, as for other projects, check out my Machinima topic here. I owe like two episodes but I'm having troubles with getting various applications to work properly at the moment.

still need a little fine tuning at the beginning, but over all, the tunin is A LOT better, just a little out at the beginning. I like the way you extended it by adding the Sine Wave OOO-EEE-OOO, and the transition into the bridge (middle-eight) was fantastic, I also found that the two mixes are more equal to each other in this version. In the last version, the Series Two theme drowned out the Series One theme, but this one I can here them both equally (congratulations on that), an I think that the volumes tend to change at points, but I think when it gets slightly higher when it gets to the bridge is brilliant, keep that volume change. Hope these comments help.

Where exactly would you say it was out at the beginning (as in betwen what seconds)? And what parts? That would help me a lot to fix it. Glad you liked the transition part though, it was just a little idea I had and decided to try it out .

in the intro, the first 14 seconds, it maybe a good idea to (if you can) edit out the scream and replace it after with a one that doesn't jump in tempo. If you need any help with that, email me at the_doctor5@btinternet.com and I can email you another verion.

Oooh right, that was because I blended the Series 1 and 2 screams together, like the intro scream. Just an experiment that didn't work out too well

Final version then:

it still sounds out of time at the beginning, at the dum-de-dum at the opening, it goes into the G at seperate times, once at 3 seconds and once at 4 seconds. They're a couple of other error in the intro but I think if you fix the one I've noted, then it should kick into shape.

Final Final version, lol. I spotted that problem you mentioned and simply took that bit out, it didn't fit and sounded a bit awkward.
Definately Definately Final Download

it's still the same, but I've noticed that the download says that it's epic version 3, so is it a wrong link?

nearly there, at 40 seconds it's about a quarter of a second out from each other, so I mean it's only JUST out of tune. But this is a really big improvement, excellent work.

I've just finished on something similar, it runs along the same lines as what M17s mix is, but it's different. I added the season two theme later on in the mix...it's hard for me to explain how exactly it's different, but I'll post it and you can compare for yourself.

For the record, MI7's name is MI7, with an "I" (as in "eye") and not a "1" (as in "one" to make "seventeen").

ah, thanks...what did you think of my version? I did it on the dreaded Windows Sound Recorder, and I was quite surprised by the suprisingly good quality result, it normally sounds really broken up, you have to be relatively good at editing to make anything of true quality on WSR, so I'm proud of this one.

*sigh* Nicely as you've done with this particular file, I really wish you'd stop attempting to make serious mixes on Sound Recorder.

what can I say, the other software is just too big...plus...ahem...my mum might think it's a bit shifty, and when the computer goes funny, we have a friend who fixes it...but he's VERY straight laced and so would be impossible to do without him finding out.

There's lots of different software. I'm sure you can find one that's just right for you.

What she doesn't know won't hurt her.

Oh, trust me, it's not as obvious as you might think. There's no way to tell even by close inspection that software is not "legitimate."
