Hey all,
I thought I would start a thread to see what people are doing at uni, or what they plan to do or what they want to do for a career Thought we could get a good discussion going

I'm not really going to one yet, just studying for a GED right now.
I don't even know what I'm going to study when I do go there. Infact, I'm not sure a community college counts... and that's where I'll probably be going.
I have the foresight of a fruit fly it seems.

I resent the fact that "computer science" has come to equate with "computer programming." I'm very good with computers, but programming is not the field I want to study or go into. Yet I have to take three years of computer programming to get my degree. WTF?

I am currently studying a four year sandwich degree in Off Road Vehicle Design at Harper Adams UC and hope I can become a Design Engineer afterwards.

I am going to go out on a limb here and assume you are not familiar with Sandwich degrees, but if you are then please correct me and i can edit this post with something more humorous
Basically a sandwich degree for Engineering courses is a year spent working for an Engineerng company appropriate to your course. For off Road it would apply to comapnies like JCB, Terex or Case New Holland, obviously it;s to help gain experience, something for the CV and to open up a chance for a permanant job at the cmpany once you graduate. HND people have thiers second year, with one more year back at Uni before graduation. I am doing a 4 year course so next year I am at Uni then off to seek a placement. I get paid to do it, and I get my own place.

That sounds pretty neat, actually. Sort of like training with Al Qaeda except you don't get put on terrorist watch lists. I was going to say 'except it's legal', except I recently discovered that it's actually legal to train with them as long as you don't fight for them, which is sort of funny.

Well although it's nice to know what it means, it also kinda ruins the fun of the sandwiches
