In need of a RAM upgrade
So, this computer isn't the best of the best by any means, but this 1 gig of memory is killing me. I want to jump up to two, but am unsure what to get.
I have a ABIT KV8 Pro motherboard, have always just had one annoying gig of memory.
I used some consulting websites to check on what they recommend..
http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner...E5279731D926C3
http://configurator.ocztechnology.co...&modelid=44078
It ends up leaving me slightly confused. One says yes to DDR SDRAM, the other says no.. ergh. I hate RAM, always have.
Can anyone make a good educated guess / suggestion?
Was looking over at newegg.com, just keep worrying about the minor spec details, want to make sure it'll work.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...R+400+(PC+3200)
Any of those will do you just fine, sir. Sort by Best Rating and get one of the ones near the top, depending on how much you need.

Thanks Danny!
I guess shouldn't worry about DDR and DDR SDRAM? Got confused looking between the different recommendations.
(I know, a technician in training asking this must sound silly as hell, I'm still learning. )

Nope, don't worry about all that. The important thing is that it's DDR 400 (PC 3200). That's the only thing you really need to know for your computer.

No worries. I know he already wants one and I'm sure he will get one as soon as he is no longer, and I quote, a "broke college student." My work is done here.

Aye, he already converted me. Started to save some money up for it now, but my next computer purchase will be a Mac.
Going to grab: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227210
Should provide a nice boost to everything I use this one for, until the day of the mac or such.

An Amstrad CPC? CPC 464 or the CPC 664 with the added disk drive? He must not have a CPC 6128 as that has 128kb of RAM and the floppy drive.

Hello thread back from the depths..
Anyways, an update. Got the RAM a few weeks ago, forgot to post about it, but it is working perfectly and the preformance boost is insane. Thanks again for the advice.

I use an old computer my grandpa brought home from his job at Ford Motor Company. Well, before he retired. His retirement party doubled as a Halloween party, so much fun, that was!

Oh. One of those two, eh? Not one of the other 27 editions of XP?
