Unity with an external PC(rambling)

This is just a weird idea that pooped into my head.

I know VNC allows you to connect to other computers over a network. I've used it to connect to an extra PC I had a while back. I wasn't satisfied with the results so I just stuck to VMware/Crossover if I really needed to run something Windows-exclusive.
(NOTE: I have not needed to do that for ages now. It's wonderful.)

Still, has there been any work on physically connecting a PC to a Mac and allowing for a similar interface in VMware? Can't really transfer files or go into Unity with VNC. ... Unity in particular. This would eliminate the whole performance reduction thing as the Windows side would be on another computer entirely.

Has there been any work on achieving such a thing? I do realize it's impractical, as it's a whole lot more expensive than simply two OSes on one machine, not to mention space-taking. But hey, an iMac/PC combo would be no more space taking than a regular setup.

Am I insane?

Yes. Trust me -- trying to seriously work on something over VNC or any remote control setup is a nightmare from hell. It's much better to just upgrade your Mac to 4 GB of RAM then give your Windows VM a full 1 GB to work with, and just take what you can get. Honestly if you think the performance reduction is noticeable or hindering, you're insane. The other day I was playing Sins of a Solar Empire inside VMware.

Seriously, man. You have an iMac. You're set. Learn to love it as it is.

Frankly I am amazed (and somewhat saddened) that you're still relying on Windows as much as you seem to be after this long. I've barely touched my Windows partition or VM for months.

You completely misunderstood me. I have not done anything Windows in ages sans for that Paint thing and using my extra PC for lengthy DVD burning and Torrent work.(well, and for Sothink SWF decompiler. Its SWF-to-FLA-ability is much better than Eltima's, or at least for what I need to do.)

I am extremely happy with what I have. It was all those months back that I got my iMac and I still adore it more than anything. I have had no need to go into Windows to do anything except what I said above.

The only reason I asked was because I was curious. I often get these random questions in my head, I just rarely act on it. This was one situation where I did. You'd be amazed if I did it more often, I'd seem bizarre.

Ah. Well, the answer to your question, I believe, is no. It's just not a practical way to do things.
