Glynn Vs Howell
Basically I was bored this afternoon and decide to do this. I've seen various people do it where it either sounds really good or really bad. I've learned that the Key is to shift both of them in cents and semitones not just semitones. My pitch shifting program isn't so good with higher frequencies so I warn you. I'm really pleased with the first Middle 8 (which was edited, lets see who notice what) , and various other parts. It contains various Bassline bits from both themes. That basically sums it up.
Glynn Vs Howell
I might post Openings and Closing if enough people like it.

Decent, but I don't think the Glynn and Howell themes are all that well suited to each other. One is very energetic, the other is mysterious. It's difficult to combine those effectively. It's interesting that you chose to use the 2008 Glynn theme, though. Still surreal hearing my Derbyshire bassline in an official theme.

I Know, it would probably be easier if it was built it up element by element. also, one main problem is the pitch difference with both themes. Howell's is exactly F#, but Glynn's is in E and slightly detuned -10 cents (more or less) just like the original derbyshire theme.

I really don't why I picked it. Personally I think middle 8 matches better. If I used the 1986 I'd have to shift both pitches more cents to make it blend better.

the marvels of having recreated theme elements and knowing famous people.

It would definitely be easier that way.

I don't know if this was deliberate on Dom's part, but I suspect that it wasn't as I ran into the same problem when I got my Juno-6 (which is the synth Dom used for most of his theme). There's a tuning knob on the back of it and I had it set to the dead center. I didn't notice for several days that it was detuned by a considerable amount and I had to adjust the knob to correct for it. And seeing as Dom was rushed when doing the theme and dealing with a bunch of new equipment, it's entirely possible that the same thing happened to him.

The middle eight was redone in the 2008 theme, so that makes sense. It's also a more raw electronic sound so it blends better with the Howell theme, I think. I don't disagree with your choice; I think it works pretty well. I probably would have done it with the 1986 theme just because I wouldn't have thought not to. This way it kind of ends up being Derbyshire + Howell + Glynn all together. Just add Keff. (Sounds like instructions off a package.)

I did notice on the 1986 album theme the melody was pitched a few cents forward. Maybe due to the tempo difference Dom just sped it up. why don't we ask him?

I have asked him; he doesn't remember. But it certainly was not to change the tempo.
