That's not Marinedalek, that's Mutagene.

Sorry, today I'm dense.
Also, listen to how wrong the second layer is!
|
I always say: It's not wrong; it's a remix!

Remixes are allowed certain liberties. Getting the second layer wrong is not one of them.
Also, you can always tell when someone just doesn't understand the second layer, versus when they've decided to change it simply for the purposes of the mix.
This mix represents the former.

What do you mean by 'second layer'? Do you mean the second layer as in the melody, or the bassline, or part of the bassline or melody, or part of the middle 8, or the extra melody section from the Glynn theme?

Go here and listen to layer2.mp3. That's the second layer (in all themes, not just Howell).

Oh so thats what you mean; the 2nd layer of the bassline. Yeah it is wrong, instead of 2 semitones down before the beginning of the next bar, he does the same note as before the next bar. But I quite like that effect, it's a bit like a sort of pre-echo, thats what makes it unique, whether it was intended or otherwise.

Yeah, whenever I say "second layer" I mean "second layer of the bassline." It's just Doctor Who theme guru shorthand.
And yeah, it's a nice effect and all, but it's obvious that Mutagene doesn't understand the nature of the second layer. (I can always tell.) I'm pretty strict about the changes that are allowed to be made to the Doctor Who theme in a remix, and generally, the bassline is one of those things that should be left as intact as possible notation-wise.
And if you really want a pre-delay, add one. You don't have to mutilate the second layer to get one.

Sadly I'm at work right now and have no way to listen, but I look forward to hearing it when I get home.

Something really strange happened to me just then.
I liked the Keff McCullough theme
It lasted for about 13 seconds, and during that time I actually liked it. That has got to be one of the weirdest sensations I have ever experienced.

It's happened to me too. Really, what might have happened is your brain took it out of the context of Doctor Who.
Of course, it was only breif so there's nothing to worry about.

I imagine it must have been very strange. I believe I have experienced it once before, when listening to the last one-third of his extended theme. With the pads and stuff in the background, it sucks about 3% less than the rest of the theme. Of course I quickly came to my senses and the experience has not been repeated.

Superkid is correct. There should be nothing to worry about from here on out.
