What we really really need is a forum definition is "insult". The definition of an insult is very very subjective and a clear definition in the forum rules will help. If somebody feels insulted by something that is not defined in the rules as an insult than it's not anything that should be acted on.
For example, I believe what should constitute as an insult is a direct insult to the person in question. Not once in that topic was James directly insulted. His WORK was. I don't think it should be against the rules to do that. But when you do do that, you should only have to do it once, so as not to overload the topic.

Good grief, why did I not make you a moderator like a year ago?

Heh, well to be honest I'm not quite sure I could have come up with that post a year ago. I could be underestimating my year-ago self though.

Very good ideas!
I think another thing will be the possibility of a 'creative works' or something forum, well, like we have now, but with a sticky akin to what was in RV's little board. Only post there if you have constructive criticism, otherwise, LEAVE IT ALONE. You will be punished for breaking said rules.

Agreed. Reasons for liking or disliking should be posted from now on.

Awh dangit. XD
Lemme change that.
I believe what should constitute as an insult is a direct attack to the person in question, such as making fun of their behavior, the way they look, the things they post in a harsh manor.

James P and the definition of insult
Ronnie came up with a good universal definition we can use.
Any further remark intended to hurt or anger ANY member from now on will be acted upon. No matter how annoying you find said member if they haven't done anything obviously wrong then you just have to ignore them.
If we don't start enforcing this we'll be left with a dead forum.

It's really not all that different from my original definition, it's just clearer.
I should probably just merge this with the improvement project topic...

Good idea, and i will add that into my draft
I will submit it soon, My PC failed me today so I had to hook the laptop up and then spend a while letting it do badly needed updating while i went to the gym.

I would like to make this reminder:
It only counts if the post was made with the INTENT of insulting. If it's just criticism of that person's work or something then it's quite another thing.
I'm gradually trying to make sense of all this.

Great suggestions all around so far, please keep them coming and try to set personal issues, or any bad feelings aside.
We're working for a better place here people.

I've received the new proposed rules from Chris, are going over them and will be posting them for a staff and public review soon.

Good. What new forums will there be, or sub-forums, if any?
