Doctor Who 3x06 - "The Lazarus Experiment"
Plot Summary - Written by Stephen Greenhorn
Ageing scientist Lazarus devises a procedure that is able to rejuvenate all the cells in his body. However, the procedure does not go completely to plan, causing his DNA to mutate and making him have an unquenchable thirst for the life force of young victims. Meanwhile, a mysterious man tells Martha's mother that the Doctor is not all he seems...

Very enjoyable, especially with all the Sam Tyler....er, Saxon references.
Two weeks! Till we see Cap'n J again though!

He just kept talking in one long incredibly unbroken sentence moving from topic to topic so that no one had a chance to interrupt him it was really quite hypnotic.

Not you too Jez!
It was a *rest of season* trailer, not Next Time! I honestly don't understand how some people can still think that!

Heh. What a crappy episode. Rather weak plot, not very engaging, and that incidental music was so ridiculously loud! I couldn't make out what anyone was saying! I am intrigued by this bloke going around bitching about the Doctor, and the usual Mr. Saxon references. Oh, and by the way, I know that Mister Saxon is an anagram of "Master no six." But could it not also be "No Master Six" ?
There's something for you to think about!

Nice episode.

I really enjoyed this week's offering - much better than some of the previous ones, in my opinion. It probably helped that I've been a huge fan of Mark Gatiss for a good few years, but even without that I thought this episode was a huge improvement.
I'm slightly disappointed that Mr Saxon's first name turned out to be Harold - that was a bit of a letdown as I would expect something a bit more dramatic, though it could have been worse. It could have been Seymour

(Couldn't resist, as Tom summed up my thoughts so well.)

I wholeheartedly disagree. I think this episode was excellent -- an improvement even above some of the other stellar offerings this season. In fact, I've had to restrain myself from giving it a 10/10, as was my first impulse. The plot was strong, playing on a basic human urge -- to extend life. Unlike many RTD scripts, the details seemed to hold up to scrutiny as well. I was extremely impressed with what Stephen Greenhorn brought to the show and I'd like to see him write again.

Can't say I experienced that same problem when I watched it. Actually, I was extremely impressed with the incidental music this year. I think Murray outdid himself with this one. Might email him to congratulate him on a job well done... not that he'll respond.

Indeed! These references are shaping up much better than the Torchwood references last year, or even the Bad Wolf references the year before. This motif is actually quite exciting, and I get excited every time I hear "Saxon," unlike last year, when I groaned every time I heard "Torchwood."

Somehow I don't think we're supposed to read into any anagrams that turn up. We know it contains Master, but I don't think the rest means anything at all. Frankly, Ronn, I'm surprised to see you of all people getting caught up in the anagram hype. You don't seem the type.

The music WAS good, but I just felt it was too loud. As for the Master. At the end of an episode of Doc Who confidential, DT said somethig like "Face of Boe was right, but so as the Doctor." hmm.
My only theory is that there must be...another Doctor. The Master taken over one of Doc's future regenerations, anyone? Valeyard type thing? Jeez, I don't know why I'm getting into all this! What's gone wrong with me?

The Master isn't strictly a Time Lord (after "The Keeper of Traken" that is), as he possessed a non Time Lord body, so he isn't physically a Time Lord anymore, but still is mentally. I'm thinking the guy bitching about the Doctor could possibly be Mr Saxon/the Master in diguise, the Master always enjoyed disguising himself as I recall from the classic series.

I thought this weeks was generally good, although I thought they should've revealed more about Mr. Saxon. This must be one of RTD's season long things like Bad Wolf and the persistent references to Torchwood.

You didn't already know that, Ross? I'm glad they revealed nothing about him in this one. I want to relish what we get before the finale.

Yeah, I think that the "Still to come" trailer was an excelllent idea. But in a way, I'm glad Doctor Who is cancelled this Saturday, I wouldn't be able to watch it 'cos I've got a Tae-Kwon Do exam and I would've missed it, I don't want to have to 'til the next day to see the repeat.

one of the best this year so far
Although what let me down was the fact the week after it got cancelled for Eirovision, and made worse by the fact England lost, so really time better spent watching The Doctor and Matha, so 9/10 for not trying to stop the 2 week gap.
