Moving to a new domain

Time is marching on, and these forums, which have been an integral part of my online life for the better part of a decade, are withering away and starting to die off. It saddens me to see it, but it's been a long time coming and it's just a matter of admitting the truth now.

The truth is that I don't actually know if the forums can be saved. It's not like I'm going to take them offline permanently or anything, and I'll certainly do my best to keep them alive, but one thing is for sure — this place needs a change.

For multiple reasons, that change will be coming very soon. My music is starting to take an increased focus in my life. I've recently completed the scores for two short films, only one of which was done for a friend who actually knew me personally. It's something I'd like to continue pursuing.

Dedicating myself to something like this means that my web site may be seeing a slight increase in traffic, and not from the sort of people who used to visit this site in years past. My web site is going to need to become more a showcase of who I am and what I'm doing, and less a place for my friends to hang out (as much as I love you guys).

With that in mind, I have made the decision to move the DannyStewart.com Forums to a new home — a brand new site called Eye of Harmony, and located at eyeofharmony.net. The domain has been purchased and a temporary placeholder page has been put up. At some point in the near future (I do not know when at this point), I will be taking the forums offline and moving them to their new home at eyeofharmony.net.

Doing this will also allow the forums somewhat of a fresh start. I can reorganize and refocus the site's content, and give the site a new look. I love the way the site looks now, and I always have, but we have been using this style since September of 2006 and I feel it's important to give the new site a new look to differentiate it from DannyStewart.com. I have not yet found (or even actively searched for) a new style, but I'll warn you all now that it's definitely going to change when we move.

So, this is what's in store for the forums, just to brace you all for the change when it comes. I hope it will be a good thing, and I'll continue to work on keeping this place alive for as long as I can. But things are happening in my life (exciting and good things, I hope) that demand the use of DannyStewart.com for other things. So here's to the future of these forums. Let's hope they live on in some form for a while yet to come.

Changing domains might be a good idea. Places like whomix might publicise the change, leading to moar traffic, etc.

Just as long as I don't have to be nice to anyone.

We can only hope.

Shouldn't be a problem. Kindness isn't why we keep you around.

I think we could have gotten a lot worse, quite frankly.

Hi guys, sorry for my own lack of appearances over the last few weeks. I had a heap of coursework, placement forms and revising to get on with and had to take time off to do them. Thought I should come back to see whats up. It's sad to see the place so quiet and not much going on and I really hope this new domain may give it a shot in the arm. It's survived tough times before and I am optimistic it can stay alive. It has so many nice memories behind it.

I will be around when we move, and until then I will be back and posting here too
